Title: Bad, bad drivers,..( driving abroad )
Post by: toyopete on November 05, 2007, 05:30:18 PM
Here in Salvador each trip I make is an adventure mostly thanx to the other drivers of wich the majority got there driverslicence in the supermarket with a can of beans.
here they cut you of, drive one meter behind you on the highway always drive slowest on the fast lane and gostriders everywhere such as on the roundabout wich they usually take in the wrong direction.
ofcourse it comes to no surprise there are lots of accidents everywhere.
fortunate we are mean manuverable and fast,...
some statistics;
in Sao Paolo there are 250 mc accidents per day each day one of them does'nt make it to the next.
Its very warm here so
motorcyclists here drive with shorts and t-shirt and to-slippers, I feel like an idiot in my reviti fully protective clothes and boots but seeing them drive gives me the shivers.
on top of that in rushhour they zigzag with high speed through the traffic on there 125cc bikes. ( driving with the GS 500 is considered a big bike )
I also own a SUV from the same brand as me bike ( V6 Vitara ) but I leave it at home as much as possible I preffer the GS I really got to apreciate this twin. anyway drive safe.

Take care,
greetings from Brasil,.

Crazy drivers are everywhere.  People do some stupid stuff during rush hours here in KC.  I can't imagine riding in places that actually have a lot of traffic.  It gets busy here, but I'm sure it's not as bad as huge cities like NY, LA, etc.

NYC traffic can be madness, and more mad is that I'm actually adjusting to riding a motorcycle here. I grew up in NY, and even was hit by a car while on a bicycle when I was 15. I don't even know how to describe it. I feel like a young jedi.

Reminds me...We always listen to the LA new stations in the morning KNX 1070 here at work, the other morning they reported 6 motorcycist accidents before 11:00 am. I think that had to be a record. I go down there on the weekends and cant wait to get back to Ventura. You have to wear the right gear, and you have to stay alert and ride safe, even then you just never know. I think what it must be like in Asia or South America, and it is just crazy. Toyopete stay safe down there. :thumb:

Thanx,
before I get on I make sure that mind and body are in good shape, cannot afford to react slow, we have only two wheels and Ime very happy with the new brakepads makes it react faster too.
