Post by: lancemclaughlin on November 06, 2007, 01:11:48 PM
why can i not remove the bolts for the front fairing bracket?
the other bolts all come off with no problem at all.. is there some trick in taking these off?

come on, guys! any suggestions? i've got this bracket sticking out in front of my bike, and i can't put my new headlights on, and i'm gonna go crazy and saw the damn thing off soon.
it's just two bolts, and i can't even get them off using my drill (with socket attachment, of course).

You need to get a wrench on the nut on the other side. Acorn type nuts I believe. Is that your problem ??
Cool.
Srinath.

would these be the two bolts that hold the headlight fairing? I need more info or pictures if you have them. I had no trouble doing the conversion on my 04

no, the problem is that neither side will budge. they're not spinning around, they're just not moving.
i'm in the process of drilling them out right now. just letting the bit cool down for a second.

those are the ones. i suppose somebody just tightened them way too tight or maybe put threadlocks on them or something. that's the only problem i've had, and it's the last thing to do as far as taking things off. oh well. hopefully i can get the last one drilled out soon. i got the first one, but the bit is locking up on me so i'm letting it cool off for a while.

thanks for the responses, guys.

p.s. i'm taking pictures, so i'll put them all up when i get done. putting on dual headlights, led-blinkers in the new mirrors, when my flushmounts come in, i'm ripping the fender out completely and putting flushmount turnsignals on the rear, and relocating the license plate. i've been waiting long enough to start working on this. i've been talking about it for as long as i've had the bike haha.
