2009 Monster. Hmmmmmmm..... haven't made up my mind about its looks. What do you guys think?

Also there's a 1098R with an 1198cc engine and 185 hp, 100 lb-ft of torque....ridiculous.
I'm not a huge fan of the 696, but I'll cut them some slack and withhold judgement for now. The 848 and the 1098R are engineering masterpieces, and the S4R S Tricolore is gorgeous.
the red one looks great, that is my style all the way. Funny I was looking at the faired version and the seat looks like a toilet bowl. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

On first look, I don't think I like the new monster in comparison. Part of the appeal of the thing is the raw, industrial look of the bike. I think they're trying to make it too sleek for what it is...

Not really impressed with the 696, just another baby monster.
The 848 has a higher power to weight ratio than the 999 :o :o and not because it's that much lighter, even though it is lighter. I wouldn't mind one of those :icon_twisted:
What sells Ducati's is the distrinctive sound. You can tell a ducati from a mile away in a bunch of other bikes. Especially the 1098. I want one so bad!. I also want a KTM 990 SM.
Why isn't there a bike out there that does everything? Insane hooligan bike for having excellent twisty roads fun, mega touring abilities, cheap to run and cheap to buy and insure. Just doesn't exist. I think the best you can hope for is buying 2 bikes :icon_twisted: A KTM and a BMW R1200 GS.
All the euro crap is going to sky rocket in $$. So is much of the jap crap. Dollar destruction baby.

I hate fairinged bieks for the most part, but I'd take that 848 over that Monster. The Monster doesn't look good of you asked me...to much tubular frame and that muffler is ugly...not to mention that light and those mirrors. And is it just me or does that swingarm look plastic?
The monster looks like it came out of a Transformers movie. :icon_rolleyes:
Not really diggin' the new Monster. It looks like a big toy or something. Then again, I've never been a huge fan of the tubular frame. The 848 is pretty sweet looking for a fully faired bike, except for the ginormous swingarm. Is that single sided? If so, then I can forgive them for it being big.
Edit: So that is single sided. My bad. Don't really follow the Ducs since I'm never going to buy one.

Yes. The Street Triple. Scores very high on the cool points. Cycle World gave it a really good review.

the bike dealer down the street from me stared as a used bike dealer and then they got the duc's a few years ago and now they are getting trimph bikes as well .........decisions decisions....which one 695 or the street tripple :dunno_white:

As someone who has ridden both the Daytona 675 and the Monster S2R 800, I imagine that the Street Triple will mop the floor with any sub-liter Monster you throw its way.
i find many of the bikes you guys are talking about sexy. some Ducs, some Triumphs, some Aprilia, MV Augusta etc. but i doubt i'll ever own any of them price tags are high and i don't see any models by these manufactures that are geared towards novice riders. :dunno_white:
Sure prices are high, but not insane. $9k for a Triumph 675 or $8k for a Street Triple, vs. $9k for a GSX-R 600 or CBR600RR. The Duc 848 is $12k, sure, but a Monster 695 is $7.5k. I don't think any of these are meant to be novice bikes anyway, and I wouldn't want to learn to ride on a premium model bike anyway.

I can't believe no one has stated that the 848 isn't going to sound like a Ducati.... It has a wet clutch so hence no "OH shaZam! YOUR BIKE IS TEH BROKEN TO THE MAXORS!" moments.
better known as the "Ratta a tat tick" of most other Ducati at idle.
