its kind of cool, in a way. mostly i just wish one of them would run into a median post.
that's pretty funny
Yeah, that's way cool... scaring people into thinking there's someone shooting a gun at them is always awesome. It is in no way irresponsible. There is no way that either of those guys are a-holes. :icon_rolleyes:
That lady was hilarious and the guys sitting at the bus stop was priceless
If you go to the Isle of Man TT, your woken up in the campsite by what can only be described as a fire fight! At least one morning when everyone is revving their bikes up for the days riding one of them will start "shooting" at the others, its great fun it sounds like theres a proper firefight going on lol.
Until, inevitably there is one very loud crack followed by an unhealthily loud idle noise and someone has blown a whole in a rusty old exhaust....
Yeah, all in good fun - the one guy ran his leg into the car, deserved I guess. Anyone know how is this backfire accomplished? Looks like their hitting the killswitch...
Cheers,
J
Yeah, now all those pedestrians love motorcyclists even more ! What fun ! :cookoo:

I was waiting for someone to ask :)
What you do is with the engine running you quickly flick the kill switch off and then switch it back on, what happens is the engine is firing etc... but then for a split second the fuel and air are injected but no spark, the unburnt fuel/air mix is then sent out into the exhaust (like the exhaust gasses would be) and the kill switch is now back on, the engine fires this time but it ignites the unburnt fuel that has just got into the exhaust this creates a backfire and a loud crack. Depending on how high the revs and the compression you can get a flame to shoot out of the exhaust.
So basically its kill switch off kill switch on and it makes a loud crack :)
This can also explain why sometimes you get a backfire after starting the bike after you had flooded the engine, the unburnt fuel that flooded the engine all gets pushed into the exhaust when you try and start it again and it ignites in the exhaust.
That'll be Richard Head and his mate Richard Brain, sure we've all met them.
sounded like the fastbikes guys to me :dunno_white:

finally! a useful how-to!
Lol just be carefull! - easy way to break an already weak exhaust and very easy way to piss people off! But good fun at the right times!
Get the timing right and it's a flamethrower.
^^^^ Yup yup :)
I've burnt things doing it by accident of course. When working on my bike we had an oily rag sat on the back seat near the exhaust and in trying to get the bike started after playing with the carbs it back fired and shot a flame which caught the rag lol. No big deal but when your not expecting it the shock of the bang is enuf to disorientate you and then it was like oh crap the rag's on fire lol.
