I just bought my first bike a 06 gs500f and I am in the process of getting my license this week, I love my bike except for one thing, the previous owner took the decals off the fairings and mine being blue and white, looks funny like the white fairings dont belong. Anyway I didnt think it was a problem until I was quoted a price for replacements @ $600 for both front sets and the small ones on the rear. Do I have any other options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
don't worry about the stickers. just have fun with the bike and eventually you will figure something out.
you better spend that $600 on good gear!! :thumb:
stay safe
Go on and pull the plastics off now. Convert it to naked. After you've dropped it your pre-requisite 4 times, put the plastics back on if you want.
There, I saved you a few hundred dollars.
Oh, think you won't drop it ? Sure, fine, whatever. :)
Naked is cooler anyway. :)
agreed, go naked.
then you can just sell your fairings and use the money on gear and mods.
Lets not turn this into a naked vs faired thread, but taking off the side fairings for the first month or so is not a bad idea. i didn't take em off and i was lucky that the fairing never touched the ground when it dropped on the right side, if it would of been the left side there would have been scratches. What i would do is just paint the white fairings blue.

Yes-sir!!!!!
The "you're going to drop it" gets a little old. Give people some credit. Not everyone will drop their bike. My Dad for example rode for over 30 years without incident :thumb:
I haven't dropped mine in 4 years. Saying you will is like saying "you are going to die". Sure it may/will happen but people here say it WAY too much.
If you are dropping your bike that many times, it may be time for some advanced lessons, training wheels or a car. :dunno_white:
Just get new stickers.

haha how true, in my 8 years of ridin, ive only dropped a bike once, an thats cuz i thought it was on the sidestand :nono:
uhh... going nakid to remove the fairings will not change the WHITE tail and the BLUE tank.
Keep watching ebay, especially this time of year when stuff generally goes for cheap. I have acquired a couple blue tails for next to nothing.
wasnt specific enough but the price of $600 was for just stickers!

well scott your dad was lucky then. but odds are, it very well might happen. either because of rider error, ( learning) or a kamikazi cat or something, or a cage or... ( insert whatever else here)
ive always heard this rule/saying
" there are 2 types of riders. those who have dropped their bike, and those who will)

that sounds like its for a fairing+stickers, it seems like bikebandit (http://www.bikebandit.com/)or ronayers (http://www.ronayers.com/)sell the stickers but im not positive- have a look at the undercrowling section. send bikebandit or ronayers an email to figure out what their part numbers mean.
Clarification:
I have nothing against new riders, and still consider myself one. The suggestion to remove the plastics and know there will be 'stupid' drops is only a suggestion to the norm.
I've seen new and old hands drop their machine because of stupidity, gravel, girls, distractions, etc. It's not a ridicule, just something I've noticed.
Helping someone pickup a Goldwing at the pumps is a reminder everyone slips up now and again. It's a heavy reminder at that ;)
I wasn't intending a naked vs faired thread-jack, just as usual voicing my opinion and experience. :)
you guys have been a great help I think I found some at bike bandit, look foward to talking to you guys in the future thanks again
