Title: it's got really cold...
Post by: kml.krk on December 01, 2007, 04:09:52 PM
today it's got really cold in NYC (temperature dropped to about 30 degrees). I just don't feel like riding anymore when it's that cold. I know some of you ride even when there is 0 F degrees outside, but since I don't have winter gear I just don't enjoy it anymore...

that's it. I just wanted to share my frustration  ;)

go get u some cold weather gear then :dunno_white:

wear your summer gear, then add a few layers over them an get out ridin.  ive found if you can shed the cold wind, its not that bad.  i went to Steve and Barry's an bought one of their big down filled jackets for $10 and a pair of rain pants.  wear them over my usual riding apparel an good to go.  course u need good gloves, an something for your neck, but otherwise rather inexspensive to buy those if you can't afford proper gear

^^^^^ Similar to what J said. Yes you will need to shell out some cash for some new gloves, and maybe inner gloves as well, and you will want a balaclava or neck scarf but other than that buy yourself a cheap rain suit, they are waterproof and therefore windproof. You will find how much difference a tiny thin layer like that will make to your overall warmth. Then just double up under your gear.

Just purchased new gloves:  http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/37/7004/ITEM/AGV-Sport-GPR-Gloves.aspx
they are neither warm nor cold. Just regular vented leather. Not winter gloves for sure. I like them a lot anyways  :thumb:
I will definately consider your propositions!
Thanks. I feel much better now

Yesterday i road in about 35F weather ( cold front- wasn't expecting it, especially here  :o) had jeans on mesh jacket with wind liner and summer gloves. my fingers froze up but that was about it.
