Title: Mr Wankel, I salute you!!!
Post by: vtlion on December 23, 2007, 03:30:31 PM
OMG.  I did it.  I bought a car today.  This new 2007 RX8 is replacing a 1995 toyota light truck with 107,000 miles, a burnt clutch and an oxidizing paint job.

It is the only light-and-nimble offering that I seem to fit into... and I LOVE the engine!!! note the 9000 rpm red-line in the last photo  :thumb:

Congrats you goofy looking mofo!

That's a badass car, enjoy her but watch for oil consumption, one of my buds has one (the shinka edition) and goes through a quart of oil about every 1500-3000 miles, good to top it off occasionally.  Great car though, congrats again!

Congrats man, I love that car. :thumb:
All hail Herr Felix Wankel for his idea
and all hail Mazda for reviving and improving it
(even though the rotary engine didn't make its way to everyday cars as it was apparently meant to be :thumb:)

WTF does a wankel engine have a 8500 redline for.
They worried that their cheap ass crank is going to swell form the centrifugal force.
But, yea congrads.
Cool.

Thank you, Mr. passive agressive  ;)

Its a fun ride.  I'm already learning how much extra attention the Renesis rotary engine needs to keep functioning... extended warm ups, never shut down cold, flog the crap out of it once its warm, check the oil level like its your job, etc.  Its really no wonder that no other company makes a rotary; it takes an enthusiast to want to deal with all of the extra care.

but hey, I wanted impractical and crazy fun.  I think I got it.  Now that the roads are dried out, I'm going to go hit the highway and see what this thing can really do.  8)  :icon_twisted:

Nice new ride!!  Enjoy it!!  Those are probably one of the only non-German cars I would consider buying.

An:  that 15.5k redline only means something if you have the balls to use it :flipoff: :flipoff:

I got 125 out of my 1.4 16v sporting engine in the punto. Only 100hp. I was quite surprised, it could have done more. Speedo was showing 130 but thats close enough.
