This is Dan, logged into JerGStwinguy's account. He asked me to post a message on the board about his wife (my cousin) CharGStwingirl. Yesterday a car hit her nearly head-on on the 2000 GS500 that she bought from me. Injuries are not life threatening but she was in surgery for about six hours this morning. Broken pelvis and both femurs. She's a long distance runner and in incredible condition so that should help in her recovery.
Please send some prayers out for her and her family and maybe post a message of encouragement here. Thank you.
Sent.. :thumb: For her fast recovery and the family.Sorry to hear about her...
prayers sent for her speedy recovery.
Ouch ... hate to hear news like this. Christmas (and New Year's?) in the hospital, and a long road of recovery ahead. :icon_confused:
All the best. She and her husband will be in my prayers this season.
Prayers go out to her and her family, especially around the holiday season. I hope she has a safe and quick recovery. Update the thread and let us know how shes doing.
Lets all hope she gets well soon.
Best of wishes from me and my family, to you and yours.
hope for fast recovery so close to christmas. :thumb:
thats no good...hope she has a speedy full recovery
Dan again. I talked to Char this morning. She's doing well and in good spirits, considering. The doctor said the surgery went as well as he could have expected or better. Rods in both femurs. Physical therapy had arrived when I was on the phone with her. They were going to get her up and walking already. The pelvis break is apparently stable and will heal on its own.
Thanks for the messages of encouragement and please keep them coming. She'll be around soon and will appreciate the kind words.
I'm sorry to hear the bad news. My best wishes for a quick recovery!
Wowee ... Sad news but improving. All the best for recovery of all concerned. Prayers to everyone. This is Hindu now, so its going to be special.
Yea, I can call upon hindu gods at will ...
Cool.
Srinath.
I wish for her a speedy recovery.
I hope she feels better soon.
CharGStwingirl - you've survived my worst fear. Hope your pain is minimal after such a tough wreck and much tougher surgery. Six hours is a long time for you to be worked on, and agonizing for your family and friends to wait through.
When the therapist pushes too hard, let em know ;) with a nicely placed elbow.
Hope you can recover quickly and run again soon. If/ when you can share about the accident, please do and make us better riders.
Prayers sent
Sorry to hear Char, I hope you have a speedy recovery. Fortunately I haven't been in a wreck yet, so I'm looking forward to hearing from you and your story to keep me further away from one. I can't imagine how scary that was.
I am so sorry to hear about this! We are all "family" when a fellow rider goes down.
My husband has a long pin in his left femur, 5 years now, good news is that the leg doesn't really bother him, and they had him up and walking right away too. I hope CharGStwingirl heals up as well or better. Prayers are sent for a strong and speedy recovery, and to family and friends. Her attitude sounds strong and positive, and that's a big plus! And all these prayers from the group sent your way will help in healing.
God bless you all, (and those Hindu gods in your corner will be of great benefit, go Ganesh!)
My thoughts and prayers are with you on a speedy recovery!!
DLW
My very best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. I hope things are still going well and that Char's spirits are holding strong!!!! :kiss3:
get better soon CharGStwingirl!!!
Hello, this is the Husband and riding partner to CharGStwingirl. She is healing nicely but will be confined to a wheel chair for another 4 weeks. She may be out sooner if she has her way about it and probably will. Her legs are healing nicely and getting more use out of them every day. Thanks to the Rehabilitaion Center of Santa Barbara for their expert rehabilitaition skills. She also wants to thank you all for your prayers and well wishes including the brightly colored Hindu prayers :thumb: She is right here beside me while I type this so I'd better be good. She will log on when she gets home next week and let you all know what happened. Long story short, she had no where to go with a car coming right at her in our lane on a blind curve. I thank god she is still alive and with us. :kiss3:. Her GS is busted up but can be rebuilt. I know she wants it back on the road.
Again thanks to Dan and all the caring folks on the board for wishing her well
Happy New Year to all
JerGStwinguy and CharGStwingirl :thumb:
Excellent news!
Here's to a swift and complete recovery.
Glad to hear things are looking up, let me know if you guys need anything I am here in Santa Barbara . You two take care :thumb:
Here's to a speedy recovery, plenty of prayer, and best wishes to you both.
Cheers Mates!
This is Dan's cousin Charlene from CA
Want to thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. I am now home and recovering well. My legs are pretty busted up but they will heal. With titanium in both legs i should come out of this a stronger runner and rider. I will elborate more on the crash as time goes on, but for now i am healing and glad to be alive. PS my GS500 will be on the road again. Best to all here and a Happy New Year!!

Thank you for your offer while we were here in Santa Barbara. It was comforting to know you where here if we needed anything.
Glad you survived and are feeling better. Hope for speedy complete healing for you.
Hi to everyone here! I wanted to give you all an update on my recovery. It's been almost 6 months now since my accident and i'm doing very well. PT 3 times a week working wth weights and walking 3 to 41/2 miles 6 days a week. Finally the pain in my legs are gone. Only dealing with stiffness and soreness but that's very tolerable. On Saturday, June 14th, i went down to the track for the first time and ran 30 seconds every 400 meters and continued that 6 times around the track. By the time i was done i had ran a total of 3 minutes, YAHOO!! I'm back to being the runner i was. Not the same, of course, but i can run even if it's only 30 seconds at a time. It will be different i know but i'll continue to work hard and get back as much as i can. I still have a cast on for the scaphoid fx i have but i is healing, just slow. H
thats some amazing news
and i must complement that even with the injuries ur still staying in shape!
where do u find the motivation!!!!
send some this way
and get well soon! :thumb:

Had to have a second surgery, a bone graft, for the scaphoid fx of my left wrist. Hopefully the cast will come off in July. Can't complain though cause i now have the rest of the summer off from work and that's GREAT!!
My bike is almost back together. It runs, just needs handle bars, springs, fender, tank, and new tire. I got to fire it up the first time and that was GREAT!! Can't wait to get back on and ride down the street again. I sure have missed riding my bike. Shouldn't be to long now, just a couple of months!!
I know i should of posted here with an update sooner and i'm sorry it took me this long. I'll be sure to post here the day i take my first ride, that will be a GREAT DAY!!
Take care everyone and ride safe!!
Charlene :)

... on the 2000 GS500 that she bought from me...
No wonder people don't like selling bikes and cars to their friends! :cookoo:
Glad to hear you're doing so well! :thumb:
Plus, walking 3 - 4.5 miles six times a day? I would guess that you're in better shape than some of us here!
Hi eveyone,
GREAT NEWS!! i'm back on my bike and riding for the first time in 8 months, since my accident! Today was the first day i got to ride. It felt really great and i can't wait to go for longer rides. Left hand is still too weak to be riding very far but i'm working on it here and it will be better soon. I can't beleive how good it felt to ride. I was a little nervous but i'm ready to ride and with more time riding that will get better. I think it's mostly from not riding for 8 months. I'm also back to running on the road again! I'm back to doing the two most important things i love to do, riding and running.
Thanks again to all you here that have sent their thoughts and prayers while i was recovering! Here is a picture of me riding today!!
~Charlene~

May God bless you as you keep healing. I was scared as all get out getting back on the bike after my idiot tip over and ankle injury. Run for those of us who can't run (bad heart) and enjoy the ride. Life is great even when stuck in a hospital bed. You just gotta get back up and on the saddle no matter what and be glad when your feeling good!
Mary S.
Thanks to all of you here for the kind works and for giving me the encouragement throughout my recovery. I been riding everyday since this last saturday, yesterday i rode 27 miles out in the country, it was fantastic!! I also ran 4.25 miles in 43:20 today with no walking breads, i'm definietly BACK!! It sure feels good!!
Take care everyone here and ride safe!!

Shiznizbiz,
LOL, sure wished it was 400 meters in 30 seconds!! But at that time i was only able to run 30 seconds then walk 400 meters then run 30 seconds again. That was my first day on the track and my first run since my accident. I'm now running 4.25 miles in 43 minutes, MUCH better!!
Take care and ride safe!!
