Title: front end weight?
Post by: albertinhouston on December 25, 2007, 09:22:20 PM
does ant have a weight of a gs front end???  I'm  building a project bike and I'm looking at putting a gs f end to save weight.  It's going on a bandit so i'd like a specific weight not about 50 lbs
My bandit front forks, tripples rim, tire, complete brakes, fender with brkts- weighs 54lbs.)
thanks for any help you guys might provide.

Why are you putting a Softer , Single Disc Front end on a Heavyer, Faster Bike?

He may be talking B4, but still, the GS is smaller I believe than the B4 FE too.
BTW, the newer USD ones are very light.
Cool.

trying to save weight. I'm trying to get the bike about 275 lbs. At that weight, the braking power should not be a problem at all. The forks should be strong enough at that weight. I'm even thinking about a gs rear rims and swingarm. its shorter (shorer wheel base) and it'll be a little lighter. plus there are more gs front ends out there than 400 bandits. the dr650 motor that i;m goint to use only puts out 35hp so i need to shave weight to help compensaqte that weakness.

I have a 91 gsxr USD forks on my bandit 400(750 motor installed) already. it's feels great but now the bike weighs 440 lbs at full wet. I was hoping for 400lbs on that bike.  I have to have strong brakes on that bike. so I can't go bake to the single like a lightweight bike no barely any HP.
Also, I can't afford newer sets yet. but thanks.
