Title: FS: Billet rearsets w/GP shift link - $95
Post by: octane on December 27, 2007, 08:27:43 AM
These are billet aluminum rearsets, made by CFM Motorsports for a CBR900RR and modded to fit a GS (slight notch in mounting holes). Include pegs and both pedals as well as an R1 shift link mated to a cut down GS shift arm, which converts the bike to GP shift (one up, five down). These things are super light weight and look slick on the bike. They were originally anodized purple, I painted them black and the paint is rubbed off in quite a few places. Use 'em as is or clean, paint, anodize, polish until your heart's content. Your stock GS rear brake master cylinder will bolt right up and the mount holes have already been notched to bolt up to your frame. I rode on these for years. The only downside is that these rearsets are made for racing and don't have the clip on the back for the brake light switch...but you always have a finger over the front lever for lights anyway - don't you?! I have actually used nylon zip ties and hose clamps to hold the switch for inspections, etc. and it works fine for a while. You can also have a shop that can weld aluminum add the tab for a few bucks...I never got around to it.

95 bucks includes shipping to the lower 48.

Can you get a pic showing the modification you made to make these fit a GS?  If I pick these up, I'll be mounting them on a race bike so I need to make sure the mod doesn't compromise their strength any.  (I'm thinking a little aluminum welding to fill in the unused portion of the slot will 'finish' the mod, assuming I'm thinking it's just moving one bolt hole?)

Sold, pending payment.

Kurlon, I had to take such a minute amount of aluminum out, it's not compromising anything. I basically just oblonged the holes a tiny bit with a rotary tool.

Fair enough.  And thanks for undercutting me L3uddha, this is why you're not allowed in the GS Gestapo! :P

If soomething happens, I'll be the back up buyer then.

l3udda has 'em, Kurlon. Find ya a set of CBR900RR rearsets. You don't need to remove much material for them to fit. You'll need a longer shift link, I used an R1 link that worked well and cut down the GS shift arm and drilled a hole to mount the link. I picked up some small heims at a fastener supply joint to connect it all (the reverse thread is a bit of a challenge to find!). You'll also need longer bolts to mount the rearsets to the frame, the heads on the stock ones are too wide - some grade 8 bolts and a washer work well.
