Ok heres the problem......
After making all the upgrades the gs and putting her back together we tried to fire her up for the first time today and it didnt go so well.
Had my hopes set on a perfect start but should have known better.
First off here is some info on the bike
96 gs
k&n lunch box
stage 3 dyno jet (i know im gonna catch hell for that)
scorpion slipon
bob's timing advance
Just had a valve adjustment and new clutch plates put in her
Thats about it for the engine or performance mods.
We were able get her started using starting fluid. once started she will only run in full choke and between 1.5 to 4 rpms if i try to go beyond 4 she stalls out. If i try to take the choke off she stalls out. At first when we started her she idiled with the choke on no problem. Now that she is warmed up she has a few problems idiling. I have to play with the throttle to keep her going. I pulled the spark plugs and cleaned them just in case they were fouled. After letting her run a couple of times and having her stall out i pulled the spark plugs again to see if they were really really wet or really really dry. Unfortunately they seemed on the dry side. I believe that it is possible that on of my low rpm jets in the carbs could be clogged. But cannot verify this yet.
Any comments , suggestions, or ideas are greatly welcome.
Did you remember to turn on (or completely turn on) the petcock under the gas tank :o :dunno_white:
You're not getting enough gas if it stalls out when you try to open the throttle.
never shut the petcock off. but i will check
If you removed the tank to rejet the carbs, you would usually turn off the petcock under the tank with a flat tip screwdriver. In the "on" position, the slot will be straight down inline with the hoses.
Also check to see if any hoses are pinched or kinked. Vaccum hose connected to carb and frame petcock.
Check under diaphram covers to see if the tiny o-ring isn't missing. Easy to lose those when re-jetting
I'm assuming you got everything right with the rejet:
Did you try readjusting your idle after it was warm ?
