Title: another car question...jeep
Post by: porsche4786 on December 30, 2007, 12:37:22 PM
does this seem too cheap? from a small dealer $3999 for a  1997 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 75k miles, auto trans (i wish it was a manual trans).

is there really such a thing as too cheap?  maybe it's sat on the lot for a bit and they just want to get rid of it. give it a good looking over engine wise. take it for a test drive and beat the hell out of it. i try to blow the engine in all the cars i test drive. if it cant handle the ten or so mins of abuse i put it under, i don't want it anyhow.

I decided that it might end up costing me more than it's worth. I think they actually get better MPG than a jeep, but I think a jeep might be more reliable and parts will be easier to get and cheaper.

6k with a clean title and reasonable mileage.  See if you can get em to take 3k even for it.  Those engines CAN be flaky, especially if a PO didn't take care of it.
