Title: front turn signals - need helping popp'in it back in
Post by: wulabs on January 08, 2008, 03:22:26 PM
my left front turn signal on my '04 gs500f popped out of its hole and is hanging loose.  I've tried but can't seem to pop it back in.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Ditto.

The guy at my shop suggested a little Armor All on the turn signal (ts) body and popping it back through the plastic, but I haven't tried it yet.

My wife dropped the bike (the GS500F is hers, I got a CBR66RR), and the signal popped into the fairing a ways, so it's still functional, at least.

Anyone have a schematic of the signal?  I don't want to buy a manual just for this.

Cheers.

do you have a picture? the F signals have a little plastic tab that is holding them on the fairing it goes on the back side of the fairing. it that popped out it might be wise to unscrew the signals and put everything back in the right spot.

same thing happened to me, you just gotta work with it a little bit.  If i remember when I did mine i had to unscrew it and unplug it and just wiggle it around until it came loose so that I could pop it back in.

I looked at the schematics on the GStwins page.  It looks like the best bet is to just unscrew that retaining screw, disconnect the wire, and put it back on.  Looks pretty easy, except for the reaching up there without baning the &$^# out of my knuckles.  :icon_confused:

I put a little dish soap on the turn signal after unscrewing the nut and sliding it and the lock washer up a bit.

It popped right back through the fairing easy with that.  Nice thing about soap is that is won't hurt the plastics and wipes off easy.  Got 'er all up and runnin, going to be nice this weekend.

I'm taking my CBR and looking for some back roads. :D   GOing to get my wife back on the GS and do some time in the parking lot with the MSF exercises.

Cheers.

the signals on the f model bolt on so if it has "poped out" then you probly have broken something. you might have to replace them with flush mounts.
