just installed some today and they really impressed me. the lever is more stiff from the springs being stiffer, but during WOT shift the bike wants to scoot forward more from quicker shifts. i kinda had to relearn how to launch the bike since the springs want to grab harder. overall i am impressed and anyone who runs there bike hard should get these.
i run my bike at the track alot and run consistent 13.8xx, so if these springs really help shifts as much as i think the do the maybe i will be a new best 13.7 or so
Also i'mgoing to play with the ignition advance mod. i will go to the track and make a couple of base line runes the advance the ignition so muck to see if there is a gain. I have read that it will give you around 1 hp in the upper rpm bandand if this is so then my times should drop by .1 seconds. track opens in march

no, they never stated, but holding spring for spring i could compress the stock one by hand and the ferodo only about halfway by hand, i would GUESS they are 35-45% stiffer.
also the ferodo springs are lighter. if you have the 78 mm pistons then i would highly consider these springs for performance and clutch life.
I have been looking at aftermarket friction and am thinking of ordering the ebc frictions. mine were showing there age with 12,000 mile of abuse so a new set of friction would really compliment the springs
I used a Kevlar Barnett clutch in my 555 (79mm) motor. Sadly I had to use stock springs since I was not able to get stiffer springs in time. Not sure what springs are in my 541 (78mm) but it runs fine at the moment. Currently I am building a 569 (80mm) and was looking at the different clutches that I have. I was going to use a European race clutch (forgot the name) and its springs are rated 15% stiffer than stock. I have an EBC clutch without springs but the Ferodo springs do sound like a good compliment.

fyi... the GS uses the same plates as the 99-02 SV, except the GS uses 7 and the SV uses 6.
The springs i got were from motorcycle stuff. yo can find then at their web site or you can go to a local dealer. try them out.

All my bike use a pre-04 ignition. So I either use a V&H advancer or a Bob Broussard modified advancer. He cannot mod the 04+ advancer, so you will have to mod the plate, which I have not done.

Metal plates/friction plates and springs.
Around $100
It has 7 friction plates total (1 is a slightly different than the rest).
I put the odd one in first, then the others.
I have 2 packages of springs from the kits I've been through if you're interested.
You can also use 3 stock springs and 3 Barnett springs if the clutch is too stiff. :thumb:
Stiffer springs won't make you shift quicker, but less slippage when you bang the gears will help lower ETs. ;)
Advancing the timing will help off the line too.

You can get the ferodo springs for $9.99 and the EBC frictions for $40 from motorcycle stuff and if your bike doesn't have over 15,000 miles or the steels aren't blue then i would reuse them(thats what i did)for a total of around $50 for those who need to save $$$$ :thumb:
and sorry, when i said quicker shifts i really didn't mean quicker i just meant that when you do power shift and let the clutch out it tends to drop rpm's quicker scooting the bike forward more instead of slipping the rpm down as much.
sorry for thread-jack post but how hard is it to modify the 04+ ignition advancer?
also I heard that it gives you somewhat more power in LOWER RPM band, not the higher... :dunno_white:
