Title: bike issues
Post by: nastynate6695 on January 12, 2008, 10:53:47 PM
just got back from her first rode experience since july...boy did i miss the experience of riding.  But like any first time on the rode after modifications i have a few problems.

1st one and probably my biggest is that the bike seems to surge up to and hang aroun 4-6 thousand rpms when i come to a stop, go down a hill, or just rock it forward.  It only does this if there isnt a load on the engine.  Im not sure if the floats are loose after having it rejetted and i need new ones  or if its something else.

But other then that i can fix the rest
for the record though
15 tooth sprocket worth it
jet kit (once i solve the surging problem) worth it
K&n lunch box   worth it
katan front end  +++++ best improvement
Bob's  custom timing advance   worth it
New headligt    worth it  ( and by the way jay wolf  it works great, puts out a nice large swath of light and deflects the wind pretty well)
katana shock      a little stiff  but definately worth what i paid
rear wheel swap    worth it
scorpion exhaust     worth it  ( have to adjust the height of it though)

My poor little 96 gs 500  has reached that oh so familair point that you see on this site so often ...My bike now has more parts on it from other bikes and places then it has of its own..

Hanging idle means it's too lean down low.  Check your float levels using the clear tube method by Kerry.
