Title: WTB Helmet Size Sm or Md
Post by: Prafeston on January 18, 2008, 12:06:29 PM
I'm looking to find a cheap used helmet for a backup/passenger helmet. I don't want to have to drop another 130 on a second helmet and I don't want to buy some cheap Bell or something. So I'm looking for an older helmet that's still in good shape, but would be alot cheaper to buy second hand. Let me know if you've upgraded to a new helmet and have that second one laying around unused. Thanks!

The Dennis Kirk outlet has some great deals, starting at $30, and shipping is free:

About a month ago, I bought one of the HJC Echo helmets to use as a passenger helmet for like $40 (shipped free).
Hope this helps.

Awesome! HJC is about the only brand I'd buy on that site, but I'll look into it. I looked at the Shoei and the Suomy...there closeout prices are still like 200-300+...can a helmet really be worth that much more...I mean what else can they do to it to make it protect that much better than like a mid range KBC or HJC??

And I bought mine brand new on ebay for about $85 shipped.  The retail price is $184.99.

This is the helmet I bought. It's the CL-SP Phoenix.

 To add...

You can buy a good safe NEW! DOT helmet for $60-70 that fits properly and doesn't smell like someone else's nappy head  :thumb: . So..

Don't buy a used helmet... ever... Period
