Title: MUD (Multi User Domain-Dungeon-Dimension)
Post by: Kasumi on January 19, 2008, 03:07:50 AM
Ok here's a little intro for all you's who aint got no clue what im on about:

Take from Wiki:
"In computer gaming, a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon, Domain or Dimension) is a multi-player computer game that combines elements of role-playing games, hack and slash style computer games and social chat rooms. Typically running on an Internet server or bulletin board system, the game is usually text-driven, where players read descriptions of rooms, objects, events, other characters, and computer-controlled creatures or non-player characters (NPCs) in a virtual world."

And Linky To Further Info (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUDs)

Im really just interested to see who has heard of them who's played them, who's even used them to teach themselves to code, to type all sorts.

Ive played and built several of my own MUDs but now busy doing other stuff i have just been playing instead of constructing my own but i have found them some of the most enjoyable games on the net, not for everyone of course. Ive taught myself to code using them and when i first started my typing skills went through the roof, far exceeding anyone in my class at school.

So my long time MUD that ive always played an am still playing to this day...

Chalacyn Nights MUD - http://www.chalacyn.com/local/frame.html (http://www.chalacyn.com/local/frame.html)

Ive played alot of MUDs and this is one of the best i have seen, not as big as Age of Wars but constructed by a small group so extremely consistent throughout the whole game which is hard to find. Very detailed and very in depth. Its centered around Medievil/Mythical theme.

I play two characters if you were to ever log on, Kasumi and Pyre.

So do you play MUDs? Have played? Think they're good? Think they're bad? Which ones? :)

I still play muds, Mozartmud (http://http://mozartmud.com/) is the current one (I'm earen & earendur over there), I've been on there for a few years. I've played a few others too. I like them because with them being text based, the graphics are in your mind. Also they're playable over a slow (slow as molasses in January) modem internet connection unlike the newer graphical games that require a fast computer & internet connection.
