Post by: Old man on January 20, 2008, 06:56:24 PM
Hi all,

Dont panic i DONT have flat!

but what if i get one....

Does anyone 'carry' anything just in case? if so what do you carry? or is there some Roadside Assist that covers bikes in times of breakdown?

I saw a guy on the M5 this morning pushing his bike on to a trailer with a  very flat front tyre, i wouldnt like to be in that situation as i dont have
anyone that i could call on to get to a repair shop, let me know whats the go!

Cheers Old man.

I carry one on long trips, but not when just cruising around suburbia.

I keep a can of Motul Tyre repair gear (211g about the size of an aerosol deodorant can) under the seat sort of cable tied of to the side... probably not ideal but enuff to get me outta trouble in a fix.... for $19-95 it seems cheap insurance particularly living in a rural area....

on longer trips I carry a mini foot pump  (handy for adjusting tyre pressures when cold each morning) and those worms/glue things in case of a puncture in either the tank bag or tail bag, this option probably cost about $65 all up from http://www.bikebiz.com.au/ (http://www.bikebiz.com.au/) go to road on left menu => tyres and accessories => repair kits (hope that's right )

I think it was $20

Bashranger or Bushmaster? I forget... I took the sticker of the case.

It's a tyre plug repair kit. I got it from Rays Outdoors at Campbelltown

I was told from an experienced long distance rider, make sure you get one with a wide handled tools as you'll appreciate them when trying to drill/twist into and out of the tyre.

I carry a cheapo tyre repair bottle kit, just in case, comfortably stuffed under the seat.
Bought 2-3 years ago, I don't remember. :dunno_white:

Yeah I don't either, but if the choice is between being stuck in the dessert or repairing your tyre to get you to the next service station.. then I can live with using them.
