Title: Helmet question
Post by: My Name Is Dave on January 28, 2008, 03:12:36 PM
I have been wanting to get a motorcross helmet and goggles to wear on the GS when it isn't butt-cold out because I think it would be funny/different to ride a street bike with that gear. However, I wouldn't do it if these helmets don't hold up for shaZam! in street accidents. Hopefully I would never have to find out, but that's why we wear them. Does anyone know if maybe a Shoei or other quality off-road helmet would fare well on the street? And has anyone done it and can say that it is fine to wear and/or annoying?

There have to be some good ones out there for the dual-sporters. I just think it would be funny to wear one one a street-only bike. Assuming it would hold up well.

Funny ??? mmm Not really.. But whatever...

Most good MX Helmets are DOT and even SNELL approved... That means it meets the standards for street. But I would stick with purpose built  :thumb: But hey... Its only your head right ???

I was going to get a knight helmet but those aren't approved by anything having to do with DOT, so I will only be using that when I watch TV.

Thanks, I'll get my MX helmet and paint it pink and call it good. Hi-Viz, you know?
