Title: clunks in the shift
Post by: Domindart on January 30, 2008, 05:10:40 PM
Hello guys.  I was wondering if theres a way to adjust the clutch cable so theres less clunk in the shift?   I also have trouble finding first sometimes.  This common?  thnx

PS my friction zone is waay uptop the lever, at the end.  Yours?

You should be able to keep some fingers behind the clutch and still have it fully disengage( engage  :dunno_white:). Is the clunking when the bike is cold? when the oil is cold it causes the clutch to slightly grab even with the lever pulled in.

it seems like the clunking is when the bike has been riden for a hour or so..

Tighten the cable a bit, see if it makes a difference

An adjustment is not really a bad thing to try anyway. The clymer manual has a really nice and easy to follow procedure, that I won't get into, because I'll miss a step. :)

Ill see about ajusting it.  I adjusted it at the top, behind the clutch lever, but it only tightened up the clutch lever, nothing else.

checking the chain would be a good idea also. Does the bike jump fwrd with the clunk too?
