I have a wierd problem, that is probably carb related but I just want to be sure before I pull everything off.
With the bike idling upright (ie both feet on the ground leveling the bike) at about 1200rpm everything is fine. When I put the bike on the side stand the idle slowly starts to creep up to about 3000rpm. When I level the bike out, it slowly drops back to 1200rpm. When I lean the bike to the right it slowly drops to the point it stalls. My gas mileage is so bad, it's cheaper for me to drive the car (6cyl Ford Taurus)
I am not the brightest boy on the block, but I am pretty sure it wasn't designed that way.
What should I look for when I have the time to pull the carbs apart? Any ideas?
Thanx,
Stan
First take a look at your choke and throttle cables, make sure they aren't being pulled the wrong way. That happened to me once and it drove me nuts. Speaking of nuts, check the nuts that hold the throttle cable in place. Sometimes when it heats up it will change angles and change the idle (no I'm not kidding!) That's where I would start. Start simple before you rip into those carbs, its easier, cheeper and less of a headache. Goodluck! :thumb:
