Title: FS: 1990 GS500e Streetfighter SOLD!!!!!
Post by: russomf on February 06, 2008, 09:22:45 AM
OK i know you cannot make a bike without fairings a streetfighter but i think this is about as close as you can come.  here is the list of goodies as best as i can remember

full yosh exhaust
rachtech emulators up front with constant rate springs
custom full black paint (complete frame restoration/paint last season)
works rear shock
engine guards
ebc brakes all around
LED turn signals at all 4 corners
636 brake light
chopped rear fender
lunchbox air filter
stage 3 jet kit
heads decked .020"
web race cams
ignition advancer
brand new tires less than 50 miles on them

spares:
2 sets of race clipons
mulitple sprocket combinations
spare brake pads
complete jet kit with about 20 different jets and needles
manual
centerstand
more that i cannot think of.

$2500 firm.  this bike is in excellent shape and was completely gone over last summer.  i finished it sept 15th 2007 right at the end of riding season.

selling because the day after i finished the bike i hi-sided on the race track and got my 3rd concussion in 8 years 2nd major in 2years so bikes are out for now.  I am still having dizzy spells as i sit and write this.  i want to sell it so i have cash for my wedding this octoberl but will keep it in the shed if i do not get what i want for it.

Good price by the way! What's the damage from the wreck, if any? Also where are you located?

Located in Buffalo, Ny
damage from the wreck is nothing, it was a friends Motard.  Motard crash VERY well.  cold tires too much throttle pitched me over the front end and i landed straight on my forehead head.  have been to neurologist and had inner ear checked.  he says all is good physically but i still have a chemical imbalance that is causing dizzy spells and nausea.  sucks but i am going to stay off the bike as much as possibel this year to get my head on straight , literally.

i was not sure what to ask for the bike. i know what i have in it.  price may go up in the spring but for now it is frin at 2500.  if you know anyone looking let them know.

BTW thanks for the compliments.

yes, it came out of a 1998 that i bought from a friend that was his race bike.  this is alos where all the suspension bits came from.  when i sold the bike i put stock stuff on it and kept the race bits knowing i woudl own a gs again.  originally i bought this bike for the GF but after she rode it she decided to keep her shadow 500.  so the tear down and streetfighter project began.  4-5 months later it rolled out of the garage the way it looks in the pictures.  engine was rebuilt 1500 miles ago with no track time on it since the rebuild.

Bike looks awesome, I love the rear end. How much work went into just rear end?
Title: Re: FS: 1990 GS500e Streetfighter

about 30 minutes with a die grinder.  5 minutes with a grinder and polishing wheel and then 2 small brackets for the 636 tail light.  total time probably 1 hour max but you have to have a little vision.

So where in NY is the bike located? Does it require premium gas?

Title: Re: FS: 1990 GS500e Streetfighter
Post by: russomf on February 09, 2008, 12:00:31 PM
buffalo, ny (western Ny about 100 miles east of erie PA and 80 miles west of rochester NY)

yes it runs on premium gas only because of the higher compression and ignition advancer.  i have not run anything lower than 91 octane in it as i do not want to chance pinging (pre-detonation)

Looks beautiful.  Did you do any documentation of the project?
Title: Re: FS: 1990 GS500e Streetfighter
Post by: russomf on February 10, 2008, 12:02:05 PM
unfortunately i did not.  it was a side/backburner project i worked on all summer when i had the chance.  i was to busy doing trackdays, getting my WERA racing license and riding at a local motard track 2 times a week.  left little time to document the project.

i started sometime in april/may and finished middle of september.  i was happy to just get it finished last summer.  hardest part was prep work for paint and painting it.  went together in about a month after i painted it.

Is anyone interested?  i appreciate the positive feedback and compliments but really am looking to sell it.

I like it but the exhaust looks too long.  A shorty can maybe, or just cutting off the can altogether would make it look so much better.
