Title: Carb Jet Size
Post by: Batalia on February 07, 2008, 04:53:55 AM
I'm going to be using the K & N filters pods and I have a Vance Hines exhaust and I need to know what size jets and washer should I be using in my carbs to make everything work.  I have a 97 gs500.

the re-jetting matrix says:

V&H(s) K&N(p) pilot 40, main 150, 2 washers, 3 turns, p,lean at idle 2

Of course, you'll want to make sure your valves are proper first, then sync the carbs, then re-jet, then possibly sync the carbs again.

This is what I bought for my gs500 with a V&H and K&N from http://www.sudco.com/mikunijets.html

pilot: ORDER NUMBER:  004-609   #40 size     which is under N151.067
main: ORDER NUMBER: 004-200    #150 size      which is under N100.604

washers: 1
turns: 3

That, according to the matrix. We'll see how it works this weekend. ;)

Do you still need to replace the pilot #40 if the bike stock has a pilot 40?

I'd take a look and make sure it really is a 40. Given how people always seem to muck up the jetting, I'd assume the worst and order some just the same.

That's part of the reason I listed the #40's order numbers. :)
