Title: Recommend Brake Lines + Pads?
Post by: Pedal Pusher on February 09, 2008, 11:10:38 AM
I'm looking to upgrade to steel brake lines and change out the brake pads on my 1990 GS.  Does anyone have and recommendations as to specific parts and vendors? Thanks.

galfer lines and ebc pads is my reccomendation, of course they're pricey.    Try denniskirk.com. Ronayer or bikebandit

I use Galfer lines and pads. HH up front and the basic street pad in the rear (black I think).
The Green pads up front are good too.
EBC HH are good. Just don't get aggressive race pads for the rear. You don't need the rear locking up too easily under hard braking.

I picked up a pair of HEL lines before winter, but haven't put them on -- hear they are good though and priced nicely.

I remember it being about $110.00 shipped ... Be careful when ordering the GS500 brake line kit from their site, for some reason they want to send you 2 x lines for the front brake (GS only takes one).

you can also get the lines just made at most shops.  to me the extra $ is just going for advertising.

is there a place where you can buy only the front line? getting hte rear line done is pretty much pointless.

We haven't had much of it stay on the ground longer than a week. It's been quite nice so far this year. How bout ON?

Just have to keep thinking of warmer days I guess :)

J
