Dude ... maybe its not got clip on's cos its not an 89 ...  :cookoo: ...
Though I have removed clipon's on 1 89, its not somehitng I do ... cos all the wires and cables and sheite wont readily reach. But on that 1 bike, I damaged the mounting posts and decided to swap it for my 2 weld bar and I already fitted longer cables on it a few years ago so the choke and throttle go along the frame instead of the middle.
Its not 89 I can assure, the frame ... Top seat rail welds to the main frame on an 89 do not have the gussets ...
Cool.

:dunno_white: Frame tag says 1989... Guess it could be a 1990? I wont have the title till Monday to know what it says

If the "Suffix Letter" is 'K', it's an '89.  If it's 'L', it's a '90.

Note that my '99 was Manufactured in early '98.

89 vs 90 - easy to tell, frame to top seat rail weld has that gusset. 89 does not.
The clip on's can be changed, the aluminum shock linkage actually changed after 90, the engine subframe weld is still in the middle instead of to the left ... all that wont come to your rescue. The frame/seat rail gusset and of course Kerry's vin number are you best clues.
Cool.

I really like those bars...they look like MX bars.

Yea.. I went an did the title paperwork today and Its a 1990  :icon_mrgreen: A

And yea, those are MX bars on her  :thumb:

Now to start stripping her down and see what all she needs  :thumb: I did get it to fire up but I only let it run for a min as there is some fuel in the oil. Everything seems to work except the spedo, the cable is broken

Best $150 I ever spent  :thumb:

More pics of the new baby :)

Nice looking garage! Looks like you've got plenty of space to work at getting this new bike in tip-top shop.

The stuff on the sides of the frame is 550 cord. When you buy something from a Marine chances are it will have some 550 cord on it  :icon_mrgreen: Its on both sides... I guess they used it to strap stuff to the tank  :dunno_white:

Yeah Nice garage..... real nice.

Deals can be had. I've bought a few Gs's for the same money ( still with factory paint even..) in almost running condition.

Hell if you part it you can sell the exhaust and have already made a profit.

Enjoy.

Thats what I was thinking  :icon_mrgreen: I had a V&H and didnt like the sound, I hope that the Yosh sounds better... I imagine they are about the same though  ;)

Well I can tell that the EX500 Vance and the EX500 Yosh are the same pipes as what was sold to the GS crowd...they sound completely different on the EX.  The yosh sounds "tuned".  The Vance is straight raw.  They both sound awesome to me, but for completely different reasons.

Yea.. Raw is exactly how I would describe the V&H  :thumb:

Whats the sure way to tell if this is a full Yosh system?

It's a full yosh...you can tell because it's not a slip-on.

actually I guess it could be a slip-on....there's an odd line on the midpipe and I can't tell if it's just a transition or a slip fitting.  The yosh system is one piece.

I plan to start a thread in the For sale/trade section for the parts I will need and have to trade, so in the mean time

I KNOW I NEED:

Tail center plastic, any color  :thumb: ** Needed ASAP for painting **
Bar end mirrors !!! Whatcha got ?  :icon_mrgreen:
Spedo cable  :dunno_white: Just throwin that out there
Gauge housing and or complete gauges

I HAVE TO TRADE/SELL:

Tail light
OEM Front signals (pair)
Smaller carbon look short signals (pair)
Bars ( Shown in this thread )
1990+ Top tripple
Complete OEM early GS Headlight **  :thumb:
Headlight brackets **  :thumb:
New  in the pack EBC brakes for ?? Newer model GS.. I think they changed in 96? (wont fit mine) ( I will post the part# and years if there is interest) ***

I will post pics and add to the list in a day or so when I get time to tear into the new GS  :)

I would prefer to trade rather than sell because I want to get the parts I need to restore my 90GS500. But if there is something you really need on my list than we can talk $$$
