Title: I'm looking for piggy-back shocks for my CX...what bikes can I scavenge from?
Post by: makenzie71 on February 17, 2008, 08:31:41 AM
Only one on my list at the moment is the ZRX line-up...and I'm not sure which of those had the piggy-backs.  I know the later 1100 and 1200 had them.  Any other bikes have them?  I'm looking mostly at bikes that have non-linked suspension...the ones with two shocks bolted to the swingarm and frame.

And if anyone has any laying about I'm also looking for a couple of matching CR250 or RM250 shocks.

not just remote reservoir...the reservoir needs to be parallel with the cylinder body.  Like so:

Yeah thats what I thought you were looking for.

You might check for dirtbike shocks as well.

Most monoshock dirt bikes use that configuration. A pair of them should handle the heavier weight of the CX

That's what I had in mind originally...two CR250 showas (about $50 gets me set up)...but I thought if I could find something intended for the purpose it might be better.  I'm just having a hard time finding shocks that are actually long enough to suit this project...probably going to run with the CR idea.

I know nothing about this machine, other than it's big, bad, and I want one.

Yeah the ZRX is a fricken monster badass.  I think the swingarm is what really gets me...if it had spoked wheels I'd jiz a little every time I saw a picture.

To lower my eliminator 1000 I actually cut the clevise and welded eyelets to the bottom side of a pair of GS shocks.
Low rider, yes, hard tail oh yea ...
Cool.

Yeah I'm expecting to have to have the shocks worked before they're really work well but they'll look badass.  I'm glad I'll have a cushy seat in the mean time.
