So I went to meet a friend Friday night. Parked at midnight about 3 ft behind a car right off Hollywood at Cheetah's. Went in, had fun, we went to another place until 3AM. Came back to find something funny... hi beams were on and the bike seemed weird.
Come to find out the LH rearview is askew, LH handlebar is bent down and bike keeps dying because the kickstand starts falling down.
Stayed up til 6am fixing it, and it runs again. Have wrenched, strapped, yanked, bent, and banged everything back into more or less the same place and it is in good shape again.
Went back to cheetah's the next night. Hotdog lady about twenty feet away says she heard it happen but didn't "see" or do anything. Nice. Owner was apologetic and said he picked it up with the bouncer, then announced it all night at the DJ booth.
Ah well. Bike's already paid for itself by such incidents. Just a friendly warning though--careful where you park. Might be worthwhile to write down plate numbers of adjacent cars or even photograph them.
Happy trails.
Mines happened twice.
Once on a saturday night (could have been a drunk or passer by hoping on it)
once in a carpark. I made the mistake of parking inbetween two cars but to far into the spot. A careless driver flew into the car park and into the car park spot. Hit the brakes, but bumped by bike off its side stand.
:2guns:
I think I'm the only one that's thrown mine down.
Once in A Place called Basilden , i was in a Fish shop looking around , and sum dude comes in , *Do u have a Green/Blue bike* , i sed yes and he said he had just seen some Woman in a 4x4 Back into it , knock it off its stand , and drive off in a hurry , i asked if any1 got the plate number, they said no
Another more recent time , on My Dna, i went to go back to my bike after work , and as i started it , some woman came out of her house and sed some1 had knocked it , over, and thet had picked it up for me , then offered me the use of her Driveway every day im at work , so now its parked on some1s drive right next to the house everyday , there was no damage what so ever
Mine was never knocked over while parked but it was knocked over by a hit and run driver once while I was riding it. Does that count?
I tend to park between big concrete things, or other immovable objects. The cage people will have to work a little harder to get at my GS.
As with ohgood, I'm the sole cuplrit for damage to my bikes so far. At work I park up on the pedestrian area in front of the Principal's office window.

I do that as well.. In lots I park in the yellow striped zones near the end of parking lanes, Cops around here leave bikes alone when you try and park somewhere out of harms way :thumb:
I would kill the first person I see :o
Okay, maybe not if they knocked over the GS, but if I ever get my Triumph Daytona someday.. o:
Once in a walmart parking lot. Parked my gs and went inside and came out and noticed my bar end on the left side was bent, and scrtches on the fairing and a piece was chiped off on the bottom of the fairings. never found out who knocked it over
The seconded time was my falt. I parked my gs on its side stand in the back yard and got off and by the time i got to the door the side stand sunk in the dirt and it fell over and bent the clutch lever. i had to go buy a new one
twice, but I had my cover on both times
first time, had the handlebar bent and mirror snapped. so it gave me a reason to change it for the SM2's and Carbon style GSXR mirrors :icon_mrgreen:
second time, I has the frame sliders.... and the cover took the hit.
but I dropped it twice when I started riding it in the first month!
little over 1000 miles and not yet has someone knocked it over.... :2guns:
My babies have only been on their sides due to my own hands...er....feet.....
