Title: What order to tighten the front end?
Post by: SeriousGeorge on February 19, 2008, 04:52:20 PM
OK, I feel like an idiot for asking. I know this was posted at some point, but apparently my search-fu is weak. What is the best way to tighten up the bolts on the front end to align everything properly? I tried adjusting the steering bearing in the past and I think I got things a little tweaked somewhere. Between the steering bolt, pinch bolts on the triples, brace/fender mount bolts, axle, and axle pinch bolt, what is the correct procedure to tighten everything down? Thanks!

I bolt down the wheel first and leave everything else loose. Then I move on to the lower triple pinch bolts, upper triple pinch bolts, and finally I set the stem tension, and lock it down. Then I put everything back on starting at the bars and working down.just my way of doing things and it works for me.
