I ran my GS out on a 5 minute test over several blocks, cornered it good, did circles on it, zoomed it down some straights, found out the front forks sucked coming back into the driveway, by then knew that it had a carburetion problem, and I'd never ridden a sport bike before. Rode a Sportster though.

Well, the seca crashed very very well I should say, busted rider footpeg, I swapped the Buddha Loves You pegs over and it was rideable, the front fairing is busted, I bought ebay one. Essentially $100 ... I should get back to being good as new.
I think I should forget my dreams of selling it, its turning out to be a pleasant surprise at every turn. Its ridiculously easy to work on ... even more so than a GS and mine is perfectly carbureted and literally 2K to 8K is buttery smooth.

No helmet, no ride
No cash in hand, no ride
First bike, no ride
21 or younger, no ride.
Sorry your sale didn't go as you'd hoped. Just go with your gut when feeling out the seller, if you think he's a SQUID, tell him he can sit on the bike but that's it.

No he was the exact opposite. He was quietly confident, and came prepped to buy etc etc. Of course no helmet and I didn't ask for $$. He was 26 I believe.

Yeah, agree with bergj, except my checklist wouldn't include "first bike", since everyone's gotta get their first bike sometime. I'd say a helmet is check #1 - no helmet, you're not even touching the bike. Is riding without a helmet legal in your state?
Oh, and one other thing - I'd always at least ask about the MSF basic rider course - hopefully everyone's taken that, at least in states where it's free (Pennsylvania for example). People might lie about having been on bikes before but I don't think they'd lie about taking the MSF course.
