Everyone, it has been a long time since I have been on these boards. Reason being that in October I had a pretty bad accident on my GS500F. I went down doing about 60 on a back road and needless to say, messed myself and my bike up pretty badly. I am now slowly ordering parts from where ever I can find them, ebay, ect. I have the front fairing, left seat fairing, left front bottom fairing. I still need a few more parts, but that is not the point of this post.
Since I laid the bike over on the left side, the clutch control, choke control, and the assorted cables need replaced. The other thing that needs replacing is my gauge cluster. It cracked like an egg, glass shattered, ect. I cant find any online, (not from a dealer that is) but I have found multiple gauge clusters for GSXR's and the like. My question is has anyone ever put one of these clusters on a GS500F, or do you know of any good replacement gauge clusters besides the stock one that will work?

I've seen some posts about gauge clusters, but I don't know enough to offer any direct advice. I'm sure someone will be along soon with more helpful information.
Any words of wisdom resulting from your accident that might help the rest of us avoid a similar situation?

I got dash/guage parts from Ron Ayers after a 2003 mishap on my 97 GS-E and they were about 25% discount at that time. They only list the GS-F thru 04 but Mr Cycles shows K4, K5, K6 are all the same. You can find them all here if your interested in OEM parts:

Words of wisdom.....
Wear a riding jacket, no matter how hot it is outside, wear good gloves, and wear good riding pants. I had none of these on, and I lost a good amount of skin to prove it. I was wearing a helmet, thank god. I would have died if I would not have had it on. My head hit two separate places on the cement and my face shield shattered.
Don't try to stunt if you have a newer rider in your group. You may make them wreck.
What happened to me was we were going up a decent size hill and I was the last rider in the group. I was about 200 feet behind the group when they crested the hill. I sped up a little in an effort to catch up to them as they all were riding gsxr's and the like. Well as I crested the hill the riders directly in front of me were slowing down rapidly and then pulling wheelies. I tried to slow down, but I didn't have enough room. So, I had 3 choices.
1. Go around them into oncoming traffic.
2. Hit them from behind
3. Try to swerve to the right onto the shoulder.
I chose option 3, and as soon as I started to veer right, while applying brake, the rear end started to wobble, and I laid it over on the left side. I slid about 70 feet or so in a t-shirt and a pair of shorts, resulting in severe road rash on my left back, ass, and shoulder. I rolled a few times and ended up tearing my rotator cuff in my right shoulder, and my hands got all chewed up. But, I am alive and I had no broken bones, and it only took a few months of rehab to get my shoulder back to normal.
All in all I was lucky. There was a similar accident in another group a week before my accident where the guy had to be life lined out, so I am not complaining.
Message dgyver he has done SV gauge clusters and I think his project bike has TL or GSXR gauge cluster.

That is a 2002 SV650S gauge on my 92. I have a SV650 nakid gauge on my 97.
I have not tried a GSXR gauge. But the main problem is that they pull the speed signal from the front sprocket. The timing will be different than the signal generated by the front wheel. This would give the wrong speed. I am sure there is a way to make it work.

Thanks for clearing that up.I couldn't remember for sure which cluster you are using.
