So I stumble across a bike in the Dallas area that I need here. It's cheap and has extra, sell-able parts. But it was brought to my attention pretty late. The guy who can bring the bike to me is on a tight schedule and the guy who has the bike is on a tight schedule and their schedules did not mingle. I needed a fourth person. I found that man. This guy went and picked the bike up. Fronted the cash for it, no questions asked. He then drove to the opposite side of DFW and delivered the bike to the guy who's bringing it to me...all of this while taking time out of his work day. What did he ask in return? The man sounded happy to just be helping me out. I'd love to share his name and number with people here just so that, should anyone be passing through, they could call him up and buy the man the drink he deserves. Trumpetguy knows him personally and, trump, I thank you so much for getting me in touch with him.
This was all a deal I hated to let slip by but all the dominoes seemed too far apart. This gentleman made the stretch to bring it all together. There's good people out there, after all.
I'm glad it worked out. My brother is a good guy! I'll buy him a drink for you.

You sound surprised! That's the only kind of liberal I know
Seriously though, this is "normal" for my brother -- he's one of those people who would do anything for (almost) anybody. I'm proud to be related to him.
indeed
I've already got both bikes torn down and I've started to put the new one together. All I got at the moment is the wheels on. I actually could have the whole thing back together tonight if I didn't want to get the old one painted up. I've got new bearings in the forks and got I'm currently trying to find a decent set of bars that puts me where I want to be. I really liked the MX bars I had setup, but I want something lower, more sport-like. I thinking about some clubman bars but I hate to buy some and then decide they're not for me. Also looking at clip-ons but I think they might be a little too low.
