Hi all.....HELP!
I have just adjusted my rear wheel and found it very hard to untighten the nut, i used WD40 and it loosened sufficiently to do the adjustment, however,
when i try to tighten it the nut will not bite, it is a tight as i can get it but the axle is still turning?
I am worried that i will over tighten and possibly strip the thread, I also do not want to ride with an axle that hasnt seated properly, but i have 30kms to Western Motorcycles, should i risk it? What do you reckon?

EDIT: Well i have decided to risk a slow ride to Penrith, hopefully it can be quickly remedied, i will give an up date tomorrow, in the mean time anyone that has ben thru this and can share for others would be cool O0
Are you using a spanner on each side of the axle?

Is the thread stuffed?
Yes thread is Knackered, it was well and truly seized. We got the nut off using a peice of pipe around the Socket wrench for extra leverage, even so it was still hard work. The axle thread was usable up too about 4mms from the swing arm, so i bought a new nut and we 'spaced' the knackered section out, put the new nut on and ordered a new axle for $87.00. it will be in for the weekend.
In other news... whilst trying to get the nut off i managed to push the bike off the centerstand and dropped it onto a concrete Bunded area and have cracked the fairing just below the windscreen RH side and just under the Indicator same side, needless to say the air was BLUE and i was given a VERY WIDE BERTH by the wife for a while. :mad: :mad: :mad:

When I crashed my F model, I found it cheaper to order my fairings from overseas. We get ripped off here! I went through the parts fiche at http://www.bikebandit.com and ordered what I needed.
$87 for an axle. Far out!
87 bucks :laugh: imagine building a bike out of parts.....
how do you think the thread got stripped? over tightening?
tough luck on knocking your bike over in the process :mad: I can let you know that just over $400 is the cost of a single fairing from a suzuki dealer locally.... you may also have to purchase a sticker set to put on it..... :icon_rolleyes:
I got quoted over $100 for a sticker from an OZ dealer
Was only $20 from the US
I reckon $87 for an axle is ok.
Spare parts is what vehicle manufacturers make their profits on.
