Hello All,
New member to this awesome community of GS500 Owners and such. I purchased a 96 GS500E for my wife a year and a half ago. I own a BMW R1100RS that has been modified every way possible and have spent alot of blood, Sweat and Tears *Tricking* this this bike out for her during this time-frame.(PICS WILL FOLLOW SOON!) My question to anyone who would possibly know is HOW LARGE AND WIDE CAN SOMEONE GO (SIZE) ON THE REAR TIRE OF A GS500 ON A FACTORY RIM.130/70-17 is the factory size. I currently have a 150/60-17 on the rear on this BEAST. I wanna go BIGGER because of the obvious reasons and the amount of space i have to play with back there. Any suggestions?
Ripcord:
Katana 97+ rear wheel , simple mod , gets u a 160/70 on the old girl
Bandit 12 swingarm, needs bushings made , 180-200 rear tire
Jim knolf Speical 360 i believe :thumb:
87-89 gsxr aluminum swing arm, busa 6.0 wheel,200 tire, needs bushings. Jim Knolf clued me into this one.I have yet to make the bushings or figure out the brakes.Using the busa cush drive with a plate made to space the sprocket out for chain clearance. Also you'll need a 520 conversion sprocket for the busa cuah drive. Here's a link that will help.

There is also a write up on the German GS Wiki about diff swing arms and bigger wheels.here's that linky translated.
