Well, my bike as it started a year ago: (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l122/bombadillo08/Picture004.jpg)
Then the paint began and things began to be cut off: (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l122/bombadillo08/Picture030.jpg)
Then wrong parts came: (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l122/bombadillo08/Picture009.jpg)
rejet, repiped, (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l122/bombadillo08/Picture031.jpg)
Dear god how does it all go together again: (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l122/bombadillo08/Picture034.jpg)
Shaved the signals, drag bars, bar end mirrors, new front signals, fenderectomy, (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l122/bombadillo08/Picture002-2.jpg)
And for now its complete. The only other things I really want to do are a Katana shock, buell lights, and progressive springs in the front. These should cost a couple hundred bucks or so and I'll be all set. For now I need to wear these tires out. Thanks for all the help with the newbie questions and being a great board to post up and chat with. :kiss3:
prrrrrrrrrretty bike man. that's the first time i've seen the grab bar removed. cool. what are you polishing your V&H with ? mine looks like burnt stainless now ;)
Very Cooool! :thumb: I know how much work went into your bike! Great job... I'm finishing up mine and will have pics within the month.
Great work  I hope my project 90 GS500 turns out as good :thumb:
What color is that on your wheels? how did you clean prep and paint em?
Wow, clean build!
looks real sharp, like previous poster said so eloquently, we know the work you put into it :)
Question about tank bra - I like it, any idea where to get one?
Pete
It's coming along great.I followed your link on some of the things you did. :thumb:
Looks very good!
Thanks for posting the summary pictures! :thumb:
very nice. I like the chin spoiler
Sorry if I show y'all my ignorance here ... but it rather looks much like a sotck GS with black paint and a V&H ???
Cool.
Srinath.
Sorry for not getting back, I've been gone for a few days. ScottPa, I got the wheels prepped by using talcraft aluminum stripper, and painted using a bronze wheel specific paint. I sanded those mothers for 2 days. It was probably the hardest part of the whole project. As for the bra, I don't know if I even like it or not, but threw it back on for the pics. I don't think you can get them anymore. Mine came with that, and the headlight fairing that I painted black also, but it doesn't seem to flow with what I've got now. As for srinath, sorry it doesn't have any wild bodywork, re-routed undertail exhaust, or crazy gsxr front end, but it was meant to be a commuter to have fun with on the weekends, not a track bike.   I did just about all that I could and what I didn't, I'm going to this summer. Repaint, rejet, 14t front, brand new 39t rear, new chain, new pads, lunchbox, rejet, new grips, new bars, new mirrors, "fenderectomy", "reflectorectomy", sport demons, front and rear signals, and thats about it for now. It was fun and thanks for all the positive feedback!

I just wipe it down every few rides before I go out. I have never really tried to take care of the thing it just seems to stay clean. I did clean it with wd-40 once, so maybe thats helping, maybe not???
looks great !!! Is the paint flat black ? anthony
WHY DO PEOPLE TAKE REALLY NICE BIKES AND GIVE THEM RAT PAINTJOBS????? :cookoo:
if ya want to do that i'm sure there is a line of people willing to trade crappy looking bodywork for clean stock stuff
i like the wheel color....
i'l love to have had your stock body kit.
very nice project! bike looks great now, and the most important fact -> that YOU enjoy it!
cheers
Kamel
werase643 you are right I have a scrached up red tank i would have given him 50 plus my stuff and paid shipping both ways for his tank
Sorry guys, I love it so sorry to rain on anyone's parade. I get way way way more compliments this way than I did before. It doesn't look like someone walked up and krylon coated it or anything.
Nice looking bike :thumb: the tank bras kinda takes away from the aesthetics but then again my tank is starting to get all scratched up on the sides

No, its a satin black engine high temp engine enamel that was petroleum product resistant so it doesn't streak gas all over it when you spill. So far it works really well. I've spilled a number of times now with no bad issues with the paint. It also has a high temp clear coat that is also petroleum product resistent. I like the color quite a bit.
and THATS all that matters :thumb:
hey try wet sanding it with 1500 grit and buffing it with 1500 ultra cutting creme and it will look like a million bucks dont press to hard with the buffer or you will burn it i uesd the same thing on a set of valve covers on a big block and everyone thought they were factory
