Title: You think this bike will sell?
Post by: South East Rocket on August 19, 2003, 07:13:53 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a GS off the showroom floor cost $4399.00.

I know, I saw that, and thought that price is a little optimistic of him.

Serious optimist. I paid less than that for mine with 0 miles from the dealer including tax/title!

Or perhaps it's all a ruse. "Sorry Honey, I tried to sell the bike. This darned economy, nobody is willing to give me what it's worth. You wouldn't want us to take a loss on it, would you? I guess we'll just have to cut back on how much we spend on the wedding."

I got my '01 model brand new from the dealership for $3300.

I think he is hoping for some ignorant person to not know how much the bike is worth.  For that '00 model, I wouldn't go over about $2300 or so.

You never know what some people will pay, though I wouldn't even pay $4399 in Canadian dollars when you can get a new one for $5000 Cdn.

Hey but you gotta consider that the guy who types in "gs500" looking for a bike and sees them run around $1500-2300 is probably not gonna buy the $4k one.

I'm with Casimir on this one.  An excuse to keep the bike and the wedding cost down.  If that's not the case the guy is just a little unrealistic...

Its only 30% over priced...It will sell easy...How do I know this...
The eliminator 9/10 manual has been off the shelves for a while. Kawi defers to the base ninja manual on everything and the eli supplement only has pictures and some wiring diagrams and little else. Most All the info (90%) in it is available on buykawasaki.com and the rest is in the base manual. Now it also can be got from kawasaki USA by pestering them. I know I got mine in 01. On ebay one came up and was pretty well used shape and it sold for $155. Sweet for a part available new for $10 from kawi.
Cool.

When parts go out of production, prices rise. When vehicles go out of production prices crash.

Yeah but this guy wants a starting bid of $4000. He expects it to go up from there. He'll never get the starting bid, so it won't go up. If he had started at $3000 or even $3500 he might have had a chance. Set the reserve at $4000. I wonder what the reserve is?
