I bent a valve
This describes what I did, http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=13248.0.
I am trying to decide if I should take it to a shop or try to fix it myself.
What parts/specialty tools are required to fix this?
I know I will need a valve but what else? Any gaskets or bolts only good for one installation, that kind of stuff. I am asking to get a feel for the cost if I try to do this myself I would like to order the repair book and all needed parts at the same time since I want to leave for a trip on March 13th . I will only do that if I have it fixed by the end of this coming weekend. I would not trust it without a few days driving around town.
How long has it taken people to fix this?
I am going to try calling a shop tomorrow, but will probably have to wait till Tuesday, to see how much that will cost to have them fix it but wanted to get a feel for the costs of doing it myself as well.
Thanks
Chris
As for special tools... this should be helpful:

The valve will need to be lapped to the seat.
The copper washers under the head nuts are suppossed to be one time use but I reuse them all the time, just sand any ridges flat. The valve cover gasket is usually reuseable.
It takes me about 2-3 hours to do a job like this.
