Title: Measuring chain slack
Post by: Y2K6GS500F on March 02, 2008, 08:35:56 PM
Ok, I think I have been doing it wrong all these years. Looking at a few articles on the web, It appears you are supposed to measure the total play in the chain.  Most say to put the bike on the sidestand, push down on the chain midway between the sprockets, then push up till no more movement is possible, then measure the difference.

I have only been putting the bike on the sidestand, then pushing up on the chain midway between the sprockets.

What method does everyone else use?

I use the 'ehh feels about right' method  haven't had a problem yet.
