Title: Wanted...Storage Space for GS500
Post by: dollar95 on March 05, 2008, 12:38:53 PM
Great news!!!  NOT.   >:(

My condo has suddenly implemented a ban on motorcycles in the parking lot so I have to move my 04 GS500F.  Anyone have any ideas on where to keep it/store it.  A friend's place is out of the question, the ones I trust aren't able to keep it because of similar situations.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I live in the Hollywood FL area.

Thanks much.

They can do that!? That sucks, I'd look into a store n' lock or something. Or just get a p.o.d. and sit it in front of your place with your bike in it, until they get pissed. If that happened to me, they would lose a tenant!

I am heading to Florda the last weekend in March. I would be more than happy to ride it back and keep it at my house for you :icon_mrgreen:. That way it will be here when you get ready to ride some curvy roads.

I'd be looking to move.I use my bike for daily transportation. If I can't park it out side my house, I can't live there.I'm glad my house is bought an paid for.

What is the reasoning for banning MC's from the lot? I cant see any good reason. get with some of the other riders in your condo...

Sounds like a class action lawsuit to me

get a large piece of carpet and park it inside your apartment. Thats what I used to do years ago when I lived in apartments too but it was because I was afraid it would get stolen.

They may be trying to ban motorcycles because the apartment owners may have been sued after a theft or vandializem. Not saying that the apartment owners are responsible for other peoples property, but they usually do back ground checks on tenants.Usually they know if they're moving in criminals,so it could be because of a dispute between tenants over an incident envolving a motorcycle.

gosh, if you could hold that trip off for another week, you could hit the Stunt for the Kids fest with a few other gs'ers. ;)

either way, if you'll be down around tampa, holler aight ?

i would think banning your main form of transportation would be a reason to cancel a lease without prejudice, along with refunding your security deposit, wouldn't it ?

not that it is really a fight you would want to fight, but that shaZam! is about as illegal as it gets, our country was founded on the premise of equality, and if you are law abiding, they have no grounds, legally, to do any such thing, and there side of it will never hold water if push comes to shove. id just call a few news papers and get them a shaZam! ton of bad press. that or set everything on fire.

Our country does also in part owe it's freedom to violent rebellion, but it's not encouraged...........

That is a load of bull$#!T.....

They can't legally do that if that is your transportation.  We have more bikes in Gainesville than anywhere I have been in Florida, and I have not seen one rental unit (from the hood to the country club) that has banned parking motorcycles on the property.  Last time I checked I think FREEDOM OF CHOICE was written somewnere in the Constitution.  It's your choice to use a motorcycle as a mode of trasportation.

Ask them if they will let you park there if you sign a legal "Waiver of Subrogation Rights" for them.  That way if you bike gets stolen while parked there, you can't go after them for any financial recourse.

I'm not a lawyer, but I am an insurance underwriter.  And I would be satisfied if this was the case.  Basically they are banning bikes prob because their insurance rates went up after their insurance company had to defend them from these lawsuits.  if you sign the WoS, then you eliminate their need for their carrier to defend them from you.

Worth a try.
