Title: HH rated brake Pads
Post by: galahs on March 07, 2008, 09:47:40 PM
Anyone here purchased HH rated pads?

I can pick up front and rear HH's from the US for about $100 AUS

I really only want fronts, so I was wondering how much they could be obtained for locally? (preferably a known brand like EBC or Galfer etc)

(Does it frustrate anyone else that Australia has no decent online motorbike stores?)

I have EBC HH pads and they make a BIG difference to me.I have them front and rear with new rotors,or did.I cut my stopping distance from 50mph to 0 in half.I highly recommend them.As far as online MC stores,I have a hard time finding upgrades for the GS, and alot of the Euro sites won't ship to the US.

You don't find it causes the rear to lock too often?

MCAS sell EBC HH pads, you'd have to email or call 'em for a price http://www.mcas.com.au/_product.php?section=1&prodid=6065

I wish they advertised their price online.

I have always found them to have good prices, but I hate asking for quotes on items I may not end up buying from them. Especially for small items.

I wish their shop was closer to me :(

No problems with lock up unless I get overly excited.  I found that using the factory brake line helps prevent lock up.Plus I'm fat so the bake has more to stop.

I notice my rear has a tendency to lock now with very little input, and I'm using stock pads and brake lines. I weigh about 80kg

My front has braided lines but stock pads and I just feel the tyre can handle and needs better brakes especially in emergency stops.

Some people have bled air into the rear brake to prevent lock up.To do this, push the pedal down, open the bleeder and let up on the pedal just enough to pull in a small amount of air.Remember when you open the bleeder with pressure on the pedal it may squirt brake fluid out of it.Brake fluid eats paint up.I personally haven't done this, but I've inquired about it.

I dunno. I'm just not keen on having air in my system. To me it gives me an erky feeling of doom and gloom.  :icon_confused:

That's why I never done it.

You all have probably read this material on the GS Wiki about brakes and brake pads but what the hell, taught me a thing or 2.
