Hi eveyone just got a new 07 gs500f got about 955 miles on it now and looking to upgrade it soon but just want to see some ideas eveyone comes up with cuz eveyone think diffrent so if you could post some with how you did it you be nice new to the whole thing and never did anything to it yet

I wouldn't do any upgrades until your warranty has expired.Anything you do to the bike will give a dealership a reason not to cover repairs under warranty.
Upgrade the front springs and if you do a lot of night riding get a decent H4 headlight globe like the Philips Xtreme Power + 80% or the Osram Night Breakers + 90% :thumb:
oh and cut your back fender off.
Throw in some Iridium Spark Plugs from NGK or Denso
These upgrades I'd recommend to any GS500F owner. None of these will void your warranty.
Then if you don't care too much about your warranty...
- K&N Lunch Box
- new exhaust system
- upgrade jets to 20/65/145
Want more acceleration:
15 or 14 tooth front sprocket
More front end predictability and stiffness
- Billet Fork brace
Better Brakes...
- Upgrade the front brakes with some braided brake lines and some HH rated pads

thanks galahs is the exhaut hard to do and what one should i get that sounds nice and will go on kinda easy
Mate the exhaust is very easy if like me you get a Jardine Full System.
Just undo the four Alan head screws attaching the headers to the engine, plus the screw holding the muffler to the foot peg frame.
Fit the new exhaust in the reverse process.
You'll love the new sound :thumb: (if you just do the exhaust you can probably get away without rejetting the carbs)

best 'upgrade' until you drop if a few times is to use 87 octane, and an inline fuel filter. keeps the trash out of your carbs (hopefully) and means they will be nice to you a little longer. :)
you already have on that newer model:
better petcooooooooooooook (subtract all the o's except one, thanks to the porn filters)
decent tires
better fuel capacity
better carbs (still a little lean)
better looking tail (it's gonna get rashed when you ddrop it though :( )
things to watch out for:
oil leaking from the head (this may be fixed, don't remember)
cars
trucks
dogs
cats
rats
birds
deer
stupid people walking in front of you on cell phones
stupid people driving in front of you on cell phones
stupid people riding bikes in front of you on cell phones
stupid people * in front of you on cell phones
stupid people * behind you on cell phones
stupid people
keep the tank full of gas when you park it at night, and you'll get less rust from condensate.
check the tire pressure every ride.
tell your friends that want you to wheelie, "would you kinldy **** off, I'm having fun without destroying the bike, thank you very much !" ;)

I bought my jardine from pipecity for $350. That was the lowest price i could find, every where else its upwards around $400.

Mate there is only one Jardine system for the 04-08 bikes. The RT-1
It has stainless steel pipes (wont rust!) and a polished aluminium can.
It sounds good,
is straight through design so good for top end power,
weighs less than the stock setup
you don't have to remove the exhaust to drain the oil (unlike some other companies products)
and requires one alan key, and two spanners to put together. Dead set easy!
The place I got it from are gone. The http://www.pipecity.com/ price sounds about right! :thumb:
galahs, you make it sound easy... But you do have to rejet through don't you?

with a full system you will have to rejet. You don't have to, if you don't mind it not running quite as well as it could.
One question though. What do the Jardne headers look like? stock? or V&H's like? Are they strait down or does the left one go to the right?

LOL! I assumed my good man flipher was going to do this as well. Trust me mate do your front springs!!!! The stock ones suck artichokes!
They will bottom out on you, dive under brakes and are just piss weak!
Get some straight rate (performance) Sonic Springs or Race Tech Springs or get some Progressive springs (start of softer and get harder the further they are compressed for a mix of comfort and performance)
Go here and work out the rate of your front springs you need http://www.sonicsprings.com/catalog/calculate_spring_rate.php
The GS500F weighs about 180kg (396 pounds)
When I included the info and my weight (82kg) it recommended 0.80kg/mm springs but I went up one stiffness rating to 0.85kg/mm and have been super happy with my choice.
Considering the stock springs are about 0.6 kg/mm you can see how under sprung the stock GS500F is!

I ran my bike for a little while with the exhaust and no re jetting and it was fine. I'd recommend you do rejet if you want a performance increase not just a better sound, but you don't have to.
Get a high flow air filter and you will have to rejet!

yes i want to do that but new all of this is that hard to put on it said i need 0.85kg does that make the bike look diffrent or is that just performance and once aagain galahs for all the info
Mate the bike wont look any different at all, it will just handle 500% better.
The springs are easy to do, they go inside your front forks.
Unbolt the handle bars (4 bolts)
Take the two fork caps off.
Remove the old springs and spacer
Put in the new springs and cut a new spacer out of the PVC pipe provided (two cuts with a hacksaw)
Put the fork caps back on
Put the handle bars back on

I just got my Race Techs in today, and damn, these things look awesome. I've never seen the stock springs, but I can only assume they look puny compared to the replacements. Good idea to replace your front springs^, I wish I would have done this sooner.
