First post, so let me start by saying thanks to all of you who have given me great ideas and a ton of information.
My dilema is this...I know how hard the clip-ons are to come by, so I'm not sure I want to give them up. That being said, I'd probably prefer the comfort of the standard bars and risers, and selling the clip-ons could finance some of the other ideas I have for the bike (or pay me back some of the money I've already spent). I have a top clamp on the way, and I can pick up a later model bar for next to nothing, so doing the swap isn't going to hurt the wallet, but I've been toying with the idea of black rims, and I haven't found anybody giving them away. Figure I could make enough from the clip-ons to pay for a Blast flyscreen, with some change to put toward some of the many parts I have in mind.
Are the clip-ons valuable enough to make them worth holding onto, in the event I decide to sell this thing, or do you see them as being more valuable as potential cash for other parts? Guess I can kind of answer my own question, as the bars would not significantly increase the value of the whole bike, and who really puts money into any bike in hopes of recouping at the time of sale?
Only Harley owners do that. Gotta love the word "invested" in a sale ad for a motorcycle.
Looks like i have a set of clip-ons and a top clamp for sale.
There were no black wheels on any year GS.You can try pre95 Katana 600/750's.I think they had charcoal wheels with look black. You can always paint them.I'm doing it soon, painting my wheels black. As far as the clip ons,the 89 model factory clipons may be worth something.Standard clamp to the fork clipons are every where. Not always cheap tho.
Clip on's have never sold for over $100 and their value drops like a rock when the srinath starts making handlebars. Given that the srinath hasn't made them in 3-4 years their value seems to be at a high right now. But with the srinath rapidly taking control of his life (yea right) its anyone's guess what will come out of the srinath's laboratory.
BTW, handlebars were $45, and hoping they dont go up more but its very dependent on cost of steel and cost of welders and cost of powdercoating.
95 GS'es came with charcoal wheels I though. Not sure what other years did.
Cool.
Srinath.
'96 did too

I have a bunch of misc parts that I would love to trade for your clipons :thumb: PM me if you are interested :icon_mrgreen:
Thought I read in a post about years and paint colors that white was the only color wheels. :dunno_white: I'm frequently wrong and need to do more home work.

Oh yea, fleabay money isn't like ... real $$, I was primarily referring to this site.
Cool.

I'll give ya that. I've sold, bought, and traded a lot of parts with members of other forums, and you're right. The price is always lower than what you'd see elsewhere.
So...you got a pair of black (or charcoal) wheels you wanna sell me for $100?
I've got a charcoal rear wheel. Just took it off to do the kat swap.

I'll keep it in mind. Seems like rear wheels are pretty easy to find. The fronts (other than white) are tougher to come by. I missed an opportunity to buy a complete black set with tires for a little over $200 a few weeks back. Damn bills!
remember pre 97 Katana wheels are the same as GS wheels, they are missing the dust cover on the speedo side.
