Title: I'm getting the fever...
Post by: oramac on March 12, 2008, 06:22:59 AM
As of today, spring is eight days away.  I have plans to attend a GS rally in two months, the temps are supposed to be near 60 today, and the salt and sand is starting to dissipate from the roadways.  I'm ready to ride!

Here in Indiana the weather has been just inconsistent enough to keep me off the bike.  The temps have been OK; I don't mind riding in 30 degree temps, but the roads have been in bad shape...icey, sandy, salted, and pot-holed.  My bike sits next to my car and mocks me every time I leave in the morning and come home in the evening.

I got out last Sunday (finally) and put 160 miles on the clock.  I'm ready for some rallies!

Not that this thread needs replies, it's just therapy for me to get this frustration out about my 'sickness', but I hope to see some of you at the deal's gap rally.  Oh, and if you're in the Indiana area (or surrounding states), I'd be glad to post up info about a GS rally in Brown County, IN this May.

Anyway, hope you all are getting your necessary doses of ride-time so you don't contract my 'illness'.   :thumb:

Oh, and moderators, I know that this borders on meet and greet material, but please don't move it.  We need to generate interest in upcoming rides and rallies, and not everyone checks meet and greet.   :dunno_white:

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been nice these past three days here in Western Mass, but because i either worked the morning shift or the night shift, it's been too cold to either ride to work, or ride from work.

GRRRRR.

At least you guys aren't stuck at college 100 miles away from your bike. Today I sat in my dorm room and listened to bikes ride by all day, it was 55 and sunny. I can't wait for spring break

Tomorrow's high is 60 with sunshine.... ahhhh. I want my bike

Sure it is...  when it's 30 degrees or colder outside, and the night before it was raining....  I don't wanna take the chance and hit an ice patch.

Ice patch is better on bike than a car BTW, been there on both. Bike stays semi steerable. Of course its not going to save you from runnign into the sidewalk ... but otherwise, remember you can jump the sidewalk and get on the curb and prolly out of harms way.
Cool.

Dude, ice patches are just plain bad, I don't care what you're driving unless it's tracked.

Case in point...

It's 60+ degrees outside, with a forcast for up to 5" of rain.  WTF...5"?!?  This is Indiana...
The Hoosier National Forest will have to be reclassified to RAIN forest.  :bs:

I know why I moved away from California, my 1400sq ft 3 bed 2 bath 2car home in a good neighborhood did not cost 600,000 or more dollars. Christ the cost of living out there is insane,

An almost identical home to mine in Barstow, yes that armpit of the desert named Barstow, lists for 300,000 dollars. We paid 90,000.

2 blocks from the libray 5 blocks from the public school 3 major highway access points within a mile and work is only 4 miles from my house.

I will put up with a little winter for those perks.

A local town measured 5.95" of rain in a 24 hour period yesterday.  And, it's STILL raining.

Those of you in drought stricken areas, drive up here and take some of this with you PLEASE!  :icon_rolleyes:

Mine was mocking me every time Id look in my garage. At my previous house it used to sit on my porch near where my computer was in the house. And it would just sit there begging me to go for a ride. And I let her sit and sit and sit. I mean 1500 miles in the 7 years Ive owned it is pretty sad. But this year I plan on using it to commute. I plan on using it to get away from my kids. I just plan on using it.

And thanks for the rain from us in Pennsylvania. Thanks for sharing. I'd sure hate to be driving my van around in the dry. No I much more enjoy the hydroplaning fun of our rutted roads here in South Central PA. (Sounds like I live in the da hood but its more like The Amish Hood)

First Atlanta gets 12 tornado's then Indiana decides to field test their water removal systems. Whats next a blizzard in Florida?
