Title: Front Number Plates - In Victoria
Post by: galahs on March 17, 2008, 04:00:15 AM
This is mostly to make fellow Aussie riders aware that Victoria is trying to push through a law to make all bike and scooter riders wear front number plates. If this gets through then it will only be a matter of time before the rest of the states follow.

The MRA (Motorcycle Riders Association) has a petition you can sign if you want to register a protest. The link also give you a bit more info on the reason behind the move.

Yeah they reckon that it will reduce speeding and save lives but all the speed cameras I know take pictures from behind- I do beleive there is another, commercially driven reason behind the push. Multinational companies have invested much money in toll roads and they are set up to read ID from the front...

Wasn't front identification on motorcycles banned to protect people particularly pedestrians from unneeded injuries. They want us to pay for them as well I beleive.

It stinks to high heaven and I for one will sign any petition against it. :cookoo:

Where would you mount them?

and 2ndly, if the road toll people were stupid enough to have their cameras looking at the front of the vehicle its their own fault, not ours!
