Title: Parting an entire GS500e, minus front forks and wheel
Post by: poolshark on March 17, 2008, 06:41:21 AM
Attention: I've decided to wait until I can break stuff down to take any more 'orders'. Pre-ordering is just making things more complicated for me, and I'm already too busy with work and school as-is. Everybody who I've pm'd prices has first dibs on the part if they want it; otherwise, I'll officially take orders when I have time to break stuff down. Shoot me an offer that knocks my socks off and I'll make an exception, but otherwise we'll deal with this stuff in a week or three.

I know I'm not a regularly contributing member anymore, but I figured everybody here would be interested in my offer. I won't be able to disassemble and ship for a short while due to work, so consider this a test of the waters.

Claimed:
gauge assembly to heliworks
plastics/tank to pjm

Big stuff to sell:
Motor - runs great, no knocks/pings, 16k miles
Carbs - jetted for stock/UNI drop-in
Frame (clean IL title)
Rear wheel
Swingarm
Custom 3/8" hardened aluminum fork brace
Rearset spacers
Brake setups, front and rear
one speedometer showing 10k

Pictures would help a LOT; I need the gas tank, so if pjm204 doesn't buy it, consider me next in line for it.

Telling us where you're located would make this a little easier on everyone, so we can calculate shipping costs in advance. Knowing where you're shipping from would save you some time and hassle doing the calculations, and we wouldn't have to wait for you to get the time to read and reply to our posts.

Lastly, what condition is the seat in?

Sorry for the confusion on location; the bike is in Oakland, IL 61943. I'll do what I can about pictures as well.

Also, to everybody interested, I'm sorry, but I can't quote exact shipping right now. The bike is still in one piece, and I won't be able to break it down and weigh/measure stuff for shipping for at least a week. I can offer prices + cost of shipping if you prefer, but if everybody's dying for an exact quote right now, the best I can do on cost of shipping is a guesstimate based on ebay prices. Sorry, but that's all I can do at the moment.

Oh, and the seat is tip-top.

Decided to hold off on orders until I can inspect and disassemble the bike in more detail. See original post for details and list of stuff yet-unspoken for.

I'm interested in the frame & clean title if fun500 doesn't take it.   I've got a bike sitting in my garage and trying to get title.  I'm in GA 30043

Here's a youtube video I shot before putting the bike up for storage. Didn't fire the GS up for the video, but I assure everyone that it runs tip-top. Closer pics when I get around to breaking stuff down, but this is all I have for now.

I'll still take the tank and plastics.....thought it was kinda hard to tell if they were beat up other than one obvious dent. Hopefully no rust inside.

No rust inside the tank to my knowledge - carbs have always been rust-free anyway. Like I said, none of the plastics and tank are perfect (save for that little center tail piece), but all definitely usable. If you're in for them, consider them yours - I'll send payment info once I start breaking stuff down.

I'm game, I plan to sand them down and repaint anyway....green.

Ha, sweet. Flat army green or pimp sparkly green?

I was considering flat army green with "gi-joe" stars on them, but I am leaning towards a light green, not quite kawasaki green but darker. I saw exactly what I wanted on here somewhere but now I can't find it. It was a GS from germany...
