By far the most popular set up here in Oz is the Ventura rack & bags. It'll set you back around $360 for the rack & a 50ltr bag.
Unfortunately Ventura wont sell you a rack unless you buy one of there bags so check ebay, the Trader & the wreckers first.

yeah the ventura system for the GS works(ed) well.... bit of a bugger installing the "L" bars but once down was great.

apparently my GS is going to be a right off, only front end damage, so there is a good set of "L" bars to be had there....  :dunno_white:

found a tank bag came in very handy too.... depends of what you are going to be doing I guess   :thumb:

For somrthing quick and easy I bought a set of Motodry panniers/saddlebags for $120. They fit easy, I put one strap over and one strap under the seat and they're tied off to the pillion pegs- don't move much. They're also expandable with a zip built in and have a clever little waterproof bags to keep everything dry They've been pretty useful- I can fit heaps in. You don't have to stuff around fitting racks or anything.  :thumb:

Can't quite fit a carton in there but with a back pack you're laughing

Cheers

Just noticed a Ventura rack & bag on stealbay. Two days to go & it's in Campbelltown NSW. His estimate of them being worth $450 new is a bit rich. More like $340 - $380 so bid accordingly.
