Title: Signal Mirrors
Post by: ssinema on March 22, 2008, 07:33:23 AM
Hey all...Sorry its been a while, The Sea calls!!  Anyway, so I laid my bike over at the end of January and have now purchased a new set of mirrors. I actually needed new turn signals, but decided to incorporate the two together like the new GSXR. I bought them off Ebay for $40, and they should be at my house on monday, so as soon as I get them installed, Ill post pics for everyone.  I think they are going to be pretty cool. I am going to keep the fairing mounted signals as well, but those also need replacing!!  I must say, laying it over on a mountain pass at 40 MPH was pretty exciting. No one got hurt, and the bike suffered minimal damage, nothing I cant fix that is....other than scratches. There's a first time for everyone i guess!  Here is a link to the mirrors I bought, I hope they come out well!!

I got my self a nice pair on mint oem mirrors from a GSXR.

Was grinding the base to get them to fit into the stock mirror holders and I snapped the end of the mirror off!!!!

Why oh why!!!

I have a pair of those on my 500. Visibility is next to none because they are too short but they look awesome especially if you wire them to be on all the time and blink on signal.

Sorry, I have the Aluzio fairings and the support brace were made to fit dual screw GSXR mirrors. I take on th 500 fairing braces it would only take minor modifications. I have also seen adapters on ebay which lets you lengthen or shorten the screw distance so that you can put in different mirrors.

I have been busy for half of today trying to work out how to fit them. Its not an easy mod. But I'm confident I will have worked it out by tomorrow.

So I got the mirrors, and it turns out that they are A LOT shorter than they look. Visibility on the stock fairings will be zero, Oh, and did I mention that even if I mounted them, you wouldnt be able to see the stupid blinker??  Also, the smoked lenses on the blinkers make them not very bright....ever.  SO, I am going to try to locate some newer GSXR mirrors, and see about putting them on instead.  I would also have had to modify these mirrors to work on the GS since out mirrors screw in from the top of the mirror (04) and these are made to screw in from the bottom which is not possible on the stock mounts. Oh well, lesson learned to not buy on a whim!!  I also installed LED signals, which look and work great, so I am happy with that.  Just not happy about riding with one mirror!!

Check out how I mounted mine.

Visibility was fine.
