Title: Kat Forks, whats missing???
Post by: darb85 on March 24, 2008, 02:52:42 PM
I am doing the Kat Fork Conversion on my bike, and i cant help but think that there is something missing from the top of them.  So whats missing?  theres gotta be something... in the top of the fork tubes themselves, there is a drop i nthere and then just that dented looking washer ontop... i gotta think something goes ontop, but who knows..

Thanks In advance.  If you could link me to something weather it be stock or after market that would be great

Thanks so much!

Just caps wont do, yours are in with a retaining clip, those are screw on, they also have a long rod that runs down form them and moves a valve inside the leg. Yours does not have any of those. you prolly wont even know its the older style. GS is so light.
Cool.

Not the adjusting ones, just the little black caps to cover up the end of the fork.  I figured the adjusters wouldnt work

That double plate is a 750 or 1100 kat only. 600's are single plate type with a shorter riser.
Cool.

I dont believe I like them, I should take a closer look though, the way I weld the dash lugs ... I have to drop it down to where the lock hole is, else the lock hole will be 3 inches deep and in a hole, but that may make the dash too low and it may look a bit off as well as get blocked by the handlebars.
Anyway, nice mod for a race bike for sure.
The kat 600 I modded looks like it was lterally made that way at the factory. This will be harder to do that to.
Cool.
