Title: A engine noise question. TsssK
Post by: TANNER on March 27, 2008, 04:50:19 AM
Especially when its cold i get a "TsssssK" a sharp quik noise that seems like it is coming from the front of the engine. It only seems to happen when letting off the throttle, and even seems like it may cause a mild stumble.   :cookoo: :dunno_white:

i thought it might have been a loose header pipe, when it warmed up things expanded a sealed, but i took it off and reseated it.. seems fine..? :dunno_white:

since it goes away with heat, i'd bet you're right about the headers. they can make all kinds of odd rattles/hisses at different rpm's if they aren't sealed well.

take a peak at your intake pipes too. :)

ive got odd noises too but no hissing like noise.... just a ticking that goes and comes i have no clue what it is but it sounds to come from the top of the head just under the gas tank

Most likely just the infamous cam play, nothing to worry about.

The whizzing sound you hear is most likely the cam chain.  It's a kind of "hissing" sound.

Which reminds me...  Time to do a valve and tensioner check.  I love the Baby G, but these 4,000 mile valve checks are making me old.
