Title: Best temperature to paint
Post by: bucks1605 on March 27, 2008, 09:17:38 AM
I'm going to be painting a few parts on my bike with a rattle can. Problem is, it's only in the mid 40's here. Is that too cold to paint? What is the ideal temperature range for painting?

Yes.  Most paints specify a minimum of 60F with an ideal temperature of 70-75F

Ok, looks like I'll be waiting then. I hate Ohio weather...

I use rattle cans in the cold cold british winters, Just put them in a bucket of hot water for an hour before you use them, seems to work well for me. An old guy at a local bodyshop told me that years ago and I find I get a much better finish with a warm rattle can.
