Hey I'm going to try to get the pics up in here too. I wanted to know what people thought about my GS500F. Its my first custom bike and I wanted some feed back.
MODS:
Custom Painted Obviously
Lowered 2" with chrome dog bones with gs500 engraved on them. $35 on ebay
Club man bars with pit posse risers because they sat about an inch too low and the cables rubbed my fairings. Bars $25 Risers $20
Flush mount lights in the rear $20
Integrated turn signals up front. Made for gsxr took some mods to make them fit but nothing major. $35
Chrome bar ends $10 on ebay. One bad thing they took forever to get here cause they shipped from China
Fenderectomy...... Free :) I think i need to cut more off if I get a different Plate mount. Any Ideas?
MY Favorite MOD to the bike has to be the club man bars. They sit out farther than clip ons so instead of being on top them like on a GSXR your leaned out farther like on a Busa. It is such a comfortable ride.
The funny thing about this little project of mine is that I spent my entire spring break on it and didn't see any of my friends. And that when i put it back together i realized I had burnt up My Flasher Relay. I called every Suzuki dealer in Indiana and NONE of them had one so because of the holiday I am put back a week of doing any serious riding.
I know its not a Fantastic airbrushed design but I'ld like to know what you all think. Leave me comments on the pics in the alblum or here.
Thanks.[img]http://gstwins.com/photogallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=4[img]
IMHO - It looks wierd...like the rear end is squished down, i know the effect your going for, atleast, i think so. The roaring toyz boyz bike look?, but, meh, it looks...meh just not my style. Do your toes touch the ground when you corner? DOES the bike corner? I do not understand th epin striping, but the blue looks good!! :dunno_white:

Im sure the 'brits' have something to say! LOL JK....classic E's anyone? jk...

Introducing the Kawasaki GS 500 ....
Honestly if you liked vomit green, no need to mutilate a GS 500, just buy the damn kawi.
Cool.
Buddha.
The pictures look darker than what the bike actually is. It's really a like kelly green. But as for the pin stripping we put the orange on there cause we thought it looked to dark with just the blue. I havn't really tried to corner real tight on it yet. I'm really short so Thats why i Lowered it. Like stock height I was on my tiptoes. It is alot lower than what i expected but atleast now i can touch flat footed and move the bike around.
As you gain confidence, bring the suspension back up. Left foot down, right foot on the rear brake. :thumb:
Interesting paint job. Don't listen to Srinath, he's a Kawi hater.
Welcome to the board!
ITs not a confidence thing. I rode it stock for a long time my problem is. If i get parked on a little bit on an incline I can't back it out. cause I'm up on my tiptoes. I want to get a side plate mount and cut even more of the fender off. I think that will look a little better. It almost looks like it needs to be stretched. but im not putting that much work into it. I wonder if i mess with my rear shock if i could pop it up a lil bit not alot but just some ?
Not my style but... I think it looks great! one of the better custom GSF's I have ever seen  Lowering it like that makes it look like a pimped out busa... :icon_mrgreen:
extend that swing arm and you will be a true rough rider
nice job :thumb:
How bright are those flush mount turn signals it looks as if they would be invisible!
Also, did you say those are gixxer style front turn signal/mirrors? If so alot of us on the board were looking for a step by step on how it is done on the "F". close up pics of that would be nice too. A pic of the dog bone thingy's with gs500 would be neat to see.

I was thinking the same thing, nice bike. Looks great. :thumb:
Those flush mounts are friggin brite. Actually They are brighter than the stock signals. Almost blinding when your close to it. They are LEDS so yea they are really brite. The mirrors are a universal things but they are made for the bigger bikes. So instead of screwing into the frame they are made to screw the frame into the mirror. So what I did was i drilled out the holes so the bolt will go through then I filled it out to fit. It wasnt that hard. I can try to get pics of them. Just becareful when doing it. I scuffed a mirror and put the drill into my thumb. SO be careful. For the dog bones go here

The clubman bars and the lower of it make it feel like a busa the way it sits. IT's like a mini me version. But its cool cause my next bike after college will be a busa. I love the feel of them and for long trips they are pretty comfortable.
I think it looks swell :thumb:
Hey thanks for the info. I know the LEDs a super bright usually I did mini-ones on my back and front and they look great. I just thought the flush would be hard to see.
With the mirrors are they long enough (ie would you need some spacers for it)? And what percentage of visibility versus stock would you say these have?
I'm on the mend and looking for things I can do to the bike while I can't ride it.
Mary S
They are really small you can bassically see if theres a car behind you and thats about it if you search gs500 on ebay theres some that are bigger.
Bike looks good! That's about how mine sits right now, 2" drop front and rear.
how does yours handle?
Just my .02
Lowering a bike messes with it's rake and trail which in turn will mess with it's handling.
Being on your tip-toes is fine. If you have trouble backing the bike out of a spot, get off it and push it back...there's nothing wrong with that. You could also just spin it 180 on the kickstand and then you're good to go.
lowering it has done nothing to my handeling I don't race so it doesn't really bother me any. My next bikes going to be a busa of a tl1000 because I like that longer drag bike style and the big bubble fairings just make me want to cream myself

This leaves me with a hillariously funny imagine of lepricauhn hanging off the bars of a Busa while it travels at 180mph down the freeway lol
hey im not that short. I just dont have very long legs
No No No sorry i dont mean to offend and wasn't directly refering to you...
Just alot of aspects of the topic such as, Short people, your lowered bike, the green paint job, the love of busa's etc etc...
All acumulated into my image of a leprecauhn (green) hanging off the handlesbars (short and small) traveling on a busa.
actually i seen a guy at the track here in indiana that had a busa with turbo and NOS this guy had to have a death wish. took off hit the NOS well... needless to say he couldn't keep up with the bike and ended up flopping in the breeze behind it. he held on and rode it out but that boy was pretty lucky. REALLY lucky.
